miHoYo planning big for Singapore, undergoes a server migration to the tech hub

The company's plan to grab the global market is growing rapidly

miHoYo announced a migration of their server to Singapore, making it the latest Chinese gaming company to do so, according to HoYoLAB. Other giants like Alibaba and Tencent have already picked the city-state in maritime Southeast Asia as their global headquarters. The company will run its operations such as covering positions in product, R&D, operations, overseas public relations, localization, marketing, branding, etc. from Singapore from now on.

Reasons behind miHoYo’s server migration to Singapore

As per the company’s announcement, the server migration will start from October 26 to November 8. Some functions including posts, likes, comments, or modification of personal information may face troubles. The company said that the action will result in a more stable and faster service to their users.

The announcement, though, creates some confusing reactions among the users. Many of them misunderstand the server transfer as related to the improvement of Genshin Impact‘s high ping issue faced in Australia.

miHoYo is taking significant action for their plans

After the release of Genshin Impact, an open-world action RPG, miHoYo spectated a massive change in their atmosphere and took some significant jumps towards being one of the leading gaming developers. Genshin Impact becomes one of the highest-grossing mobile games. The game earned a staggering $245 million in the first month of its launch, prompting the company to attempt a higher jump following the other giant names. Earlier in 2015, Alibaba set up cloud headquarters and data centers in Singapore, so did Tencent.

Besides, The President of miHoYo, Cai Haoyu, outlined the company’s upward trend. The company plans to create a complete virtual world that could accommodate at least one billion people by the year 2030 for miHoYo. Establishing new headquarters in Singapore is part of the company’s new strategy focusing on Southeast Asian countries especially Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
