Wild Rift League 2022 LPL Qualifier: As it happened

The hot favorite OMG couldn’t think of anything without a win in the grand finals. They have enough reason to think so as they beat ThunderTalk in their previous face-off. In the upper bracket finals, OMG beat ThunderTalk by 3-0. Playing the lower bracket finals, the champion team advanced to the finals. Most importantly, they take sweet revenge as well.

In the best-of-seven format finals, OMG couldn’t stand a chance in front of ThunderTalk. They did try the first two rounds but lost. In the latter two, they become defeated horribly. With three rounds remaining in hands, ThunderTalk secured their trophy and a place in the next global event.

One of the most surprising facts is ThunderTalk Gaming was formed last July. Even, the team acquired a whole new roster just four days before the LPL starts. Indeed, the team nailed their very first major event.

Wild Rift League (WRL), a regional league for China, started on 11 September 2021 and comes to an end today. Organized by Riot Games, the offline tournament has OPPO as its sponsor. 17 teams fought for three weeks in Shanghai for a share of the massive ¥1,000,000 (approximately $154,850) prize money.
