Cyberathlete Collegiate Mobile Legends World Championship 2021 – 2022: Registration, Prize pool, Schedule, and more

Moonton and Cyberathlete are partnering to present the Collegiate Mobile Legends World Championship 2021 – 2022, featuring Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore as participant countries in this cup. Following the success of the Collegiate Valorant Invitational just last year, Cyberathlete aims to spark interest in the esports market in Southeast Asia where Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is extremely popular, netting over 100 million views for the M2 Championship.

Starting in this month of May 2021, all teams will start competing in local qualifiers all the way to the Mobile Legends World Championship which will be held in December 2022 with a massive $250,000 grand finals cash prize. 

Tournament details

Starting off in May 2021, registered teams start their journey at local qualifier rounds. The Top 16 teams from each country qualifier will move on to compete in Regional Tryouts, where only the best 8 teams move on to the Regional Season. Teams participating in the Season are salaried and given bonus incentives. For Seasons 1 and 2, the top 2 teams will compete for a spot in the Championships, and the top 2 teams in Season 3 will automatically be granted entry into the Championship.

Cyberathlete’s MLBB World Championship will promote Moonton’s ‘Esports for Everyone’ program

As part of Moonton’s “Esports for Everyone” program, Cyberathlete aims to penetrate the collegiate market starting with this tournament by partnering with local esports organizations in each of the 4 countries. The current partner organizations are as follows:

  • Indonesia – Ligagame Esports
  • Malaysia – E-Stars Nation
  • Philippines – National Esports Federation of Philippines (NESFP)
  • Singapore – Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA), Singapore Esports Association (SGEA)

Cyberathlete Collegiate Mobile Legends World Championship 2021 – 2022: Schedule

There will be 3 Seasons before the final Championships in December 2022. The schedule for each Season is as follows:

Season 1

  • Country Qualifiers: April – July 2021
  • Regional Tryouts: 7th August – 21st August 2021
  • Regional Season: 2nd October – 13th November 2021
  • Season Championship: 9 January 2022

Season 2

  • Country Qualifiers: October – December 2021
  • Regional Tryouts: 15th January – 29th January 2022
  • Regional Season: 12th February – 26th March 2022
  • Season Championship: 26th March 2022

Season 3

  • Country Qualifiers: April – July 2022
  • Regional Tryouts: 13th August – 29th August 2022
  • Regional Season: 10th September – 22nd October 2022
  • Season Championship: 5th November 2022

Final Championship to be held in December 2022.

With the global esports industry being valued at over $1 billion, it is not surprising that Cyberathlete is investing a quarter-million dollars into their tournament. The professional esports industry is growing at an exponential rate and has nowhere but up to go from here. It is amazing to see that not only professional players, but college students are now given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the biggest collegiate-level esports tournament to date. This tournament is certainly not one to miss!
