How Buddies are useful In Farlight 84

I’ve mentioned the update above in this Farlight 84 Buddy Guide and now it’s time to get into the details of this feature. This new feature incorporates a pet-catching system like never before. It’s called Buddies and these are mysterious creatures in the Sunder Realm connected directly to Etherite. Using the Buddy Orb, you can catch a Buddy if you notice any in the battleground.

After you catch the Buddy, it will appear beside you and stay on standby for your assistance. The powers of a Buddy highly impact the gameplay and help deal damage to the enemies in combat. You can pair the Buddies with their compatible heroes in Farlight to increase the skill effect on the opponents.

List of Buddies in Farlight 84

There are a total of 10 Buddies as of now in Farlight. The Buddies come in two types: Common and Archon. Henceforth, I’ll give insights on every buddy you’ll get to witness in the game.

Common Buddies

Common Buddies are easy to obtain and versatile for use. This has four class divisions namely: Control, Damage, Mobility, and Magical Buddies:

1. Smokey

Smokey is a Buddy of the Control type. After Smokey is deployed, it generates a spherical smoke cloud at its position and starts jumping along with the smoke cloud. Every time it jumps, it generates another smoke cloud at the position it’s at.

Smokey is compatible with control-type heroes that are not so strong or need coverage from enemies. Momoi could be the one to pair Smokey up with because of her effectiveness in defence or surprise attacks. Smokey could also work well with Ceanna, another decent control-type hero.

2. Zephy

Zephy is another control-type buddy in Farlight. It generates a wind that increases the Movement Speed of downwind Lightcatchers and reduces the Movement Speed of upwind ones. If you move with the wind, it speeds you up and if you move against it, the wind slows you down.

However, if Zephy is attacked, the wind will stop immediately. You can pair Zephy up with Ducksyde to enhance his skills with increased speed. Zephy also blocks the constriction so that powerful heroes like Nightwatch, Maychelle, or Beau can prepare for their big attacks.

3. Sparky

Sparky is the only damage-type Buddy in this game. You can deploy it as a throwable. When it lands, it’ll explode after a short delay, dealing damage to the enemies in its radius. Currently, it is the only Buddy in Farlight that can deal direct damage to enemies making them weak and easy to attack.

The closer your enemies are to the center, the more damage is inflicted on them. I’ll consider it best to pair up Sparky with decent attack-type heroes like Lucinda where it enhances her skills. It is advisable to control enemy movement first and then attack using Sparky to deal Sureshot damage.

4. Buzzy

Buzzy falls under the category of Mobility-type Buddy in the game. It does nothing but teleport the nearest downed squadmate or Loot Box to your location for a while. While Buzzy is teleporting the squadmate, they will gain a high DMG Reduction.

Also, after the move is complete, the rescue or revival time for the mate decreases. You can pair Buzzy with pretty much any hero for a secure and efficient rescue of your squadmates, which in normal times can be challenging because of the horde of enemies present.

5. Squeaky

Squeaky is another one of the Mobility-type Buddies. It can launch the players like a missile to deal damage when the player lands. Squeaky is helpful when you’re aiming for long-range attacks. However, if it is knocked down, everyone around Squeaky will face a massive explosion DMG.

This buddy is versatile and you can use it in any situation like attacking, escaping, teleporting, etc. to bottleneck the enemies. If your opponent is using this attack on your squad, you can just shoot it midway in the air or block the attack by standing in front of it.

6. Petal Pepper

Petal Pepper is one of the Magical-type buddies in Farlight. It can scan the battleground area and mark the enemies detected on the mini-map. You’ll not be able to see the marking directly on the screen but the Reapers within its range will receive a special mark.

The scan range initially is wider and shrinks when the Safe Zone starts moving. It is advisable to use Petal Pepper with moderate Control-type heroes like Momoi and Ceanna. It assists in gathering info useful when you’re rescuing your squadmates.

7. Snatchpaw

Snatchpaw is also one of the Magical abilities buddies in the game. It can steal a random resource from the targetted enemies in the range. It is interesting to notice that after you activate Snatchpaw’s skills, you get a choice to select the range. After the range is set, it will start the theft with an enemy having one item randomly stolen from them.

The stolen items exclude the Weapons and Shields. After the work is done, it will deliver the items directly to your inventory. However, it leaves a trail when stealing between the target and you. So, there is a high chance of your enemy locating you with that trail. It is best to use Snatchpaw when you’re operating with your teammates.

8. Morphdrake

Morphdrake is another Magical-type buddy in the game that can transform you into a random object in the surroundings like a box or a stone. The effect lasts for a certain time when you can move or stay still without being noticed. But the disguise will end if the enemy attacks you.

The scanning abilities work normally even if you’re carrying a disguise. Morphdrake can be helpful in both offense and defense. You can use it to abruptly transform and escape your opponent while being chased. Otherwise, you can transform and slyly move towards the opponent Lightcatcher to snare and attack them.

Archon Buddies

Archon Buddies, on the other hand, are very rare and possess powerful abilities that can greatly impact the course of the match. For now, Farlight has descended two Archon Buddies for you:

1. Time Dominator

The Time Dominator is a very powerful Buddy and can turn the tide of the battle in an instant. It starts chanting when you deploy it. This chanting is nothing but a warning before it starts moving the Safe Zone to the location it’s at. If the Time Dominator is knocked down during its skill execution, the safe zone will stop moving.

It lets you control the next Safe Zone’s position for a decent time. This power can change everything in your favor and enemies are at a serious disadvantage during the showdown. Pairing it up with Nightwatch’s power Sherrif’s Patrol will limit enemy movement blocking them out of the Safe Zone.

2. Storm Empress

Storm Empress is again a very impactful Archon Buddy in the game. She Conjures a massive tornado in the target direction for a while. This storm is capable of pulling in Lightcatchers, vehicles, and any object that comes in the range. The items or players in the storm take small damage per second.

When the Storm Empress activates this ability, everything will rotate around the eye of the tornado unable to escape, and will be thrown eventually. When she’s paired up with heroes having high AoE Damage like Beau, the duo becomes unstoppable. Vengeance Bomb and Beau‘s other powers work effectively with Storm Empress’s skills.

How to get Buddies in Farlight 84

Once you notice a Buddy in the wild, you can catch it using the Buddy Orb. The Buddy Orb is a high-tech device that can capture any object, shrink, and store it. In every match, you get a reusable Buddy Orb and if you receive any additional ones during matches, it’s for single-use items only. Apart from catching the Buddies, you can also use it to store vehicles, tactical facilities, and more. You’ll easily get the Buddy orbs via Supply Crates, Airdrops, and Sponsor Boxes.

Some of the Buddy Orbs already have buddies or items in them. For usage, you have to aim and throw the Buddy Orb at the targetted Buddy. Also, the process won’t take much time. Each Buddy Orb can store up to 6 Buddies or other items mentioned above. You can easily switch between the Buddies as per your need using the scroll wheel. With powers like controlling the weather to causing a hurricane, no doubt that these companions serve as great allies in matches. So, keep up with our Buddy Guide on Farlight 84 for definite clarity.
