Though it is surely worth it. In this Honor of Kings Ziya Build Guide, we will look at the skills, his best builds, and tips, and tricks to have the game in your favor.

Skill Analysis of Ziya
Passive – Sanctification
Ziya’s passive is one of its kind in HOK. It allows him to get EXP light orbs after defeating the enemy which helps him level up faster than other heroes, which is a great advantage in the late game. At level 15, Ziya unlocks a one-time use ability called Sanctify.
Sanctify allows Ziya to increase his teammate’s level cap to level 25. So by the late game, your team can have two level 25 heroes instead of one. Overall, Ziya’s passive and Sanctify make him a valuable asset to the team and, Ziya can also be played as Support in HOK because of his passive.
Skill 1: Divine Seal (Enfeeble, Damage, Slow)
Ziya casts this skill in the shape of a circle and every enemy in the radius will receive Damage over time while they get Movement Speed Reduction and Defense Reduction. Ziya will also gain a Movement Speed Boost for a short time.
Skill 2: Divine Punishment (Crowd Control, Damage)
Ziya forms a circle that hurts enemies in its radius with three strikes. Each strike deals damage and after a while circle explodes, dealing more damage and knocking enemies airborne. It also has a short cooldown, so it is a great skill to spam in team fights to immobilize enemies.
Skill 3: Universal Law (Damage)
Ziya fires three shockwaves in the direction selected. The first two waves do good damage, but the last one is something that enemies look out for. The last wave deals a great amount of damage. After Ziya reaches level 15, his charge-up time for the skill gets a reduction, also clicking the ultimate just after casting will launch the shockwaves immediately. These shockwaves can also hurt towers, so you can use them to finish off turrets from a safe distance.
Skill-up method for Ziya
First, upgrade skill 2 for crowd control as well as deal damage, then skill 1, and ultimate whenever available.
Best Arcana build and Spells for Ziya in Honor of Kings
Arcana Build
The best Arcana Build for Ziya is:
[Nightmare (V)*10] + Mind’s Eye (V)*10 + [Harmony (V)*5 + Hunter (V)*5]
As a Late-game Mage, Ziya needs more sustainability in the early game, Hunter and Harmony will make sure of that as it will provide Ziya with more Health and Movement Speed. These two will increase Ziya’s chance of survival in the early game exponentially. Players can go for Hunter * 10 as well if they want more Movement Speed and Attack Speed.
Mind’s Eye will help Ziya to be more lethal to Heroes with high Magical Defence as it increases Magical Pierce which will help Ziya melt their Magical Defence, and Nightmare will keep the overall Magical Damage checked by increasing the Magical Attack.
Battle Spells
As a hero who has no skills to dash or increase movement speed as such. I would recommend using Sprint or Flash to escape the battlefield when needed. It will help Ziya sustain longer or escape especially when there is no backup.
Best Builds for Ziya in Honor of Kings
Ziya is a mage with burst area damage. The items in his build should be focusing on how to make his skills even more effective, especially in a team fight. Here’s a build that will help you as a player to retain mana and health while dealing damage, melting tanks, and immobilizing enemy movement as much as possible:
- Boots of the Arcane: These boots will help Ziya Regain Mana back every few seconds, which is very useful in the early game. Also, gives some Magic Pierce which helps in melting Magic Defence.
- Frozen Breath: This provides more Magic Attack and Cooldown Reduction. With passives like Deep Freeze and Frostbite Ziya will slow down enemies and deal more damage to the slowed enemies by hitting them with skills.
- Mask of Agony: This is a great item for Ziya as it gives him higher Magic Attack, Health, and Cooldown Reduction. It also has a passive called Torment that deals damage based on the enemy’s health. This is very useful against squishy (low max health) heroes.
- Savant’s Wrath: This item gives you a huge boost to your Magic Attack. It also has a passive called Doom that gives Ziya even more magic power.
- Void Staff: Provides Ziya with more Magic Attack and Health. It’s passive called Devastation helps Ziya to melt heroes with magic defence with more ease.
- Splendor: More Magic Attack and Cooldown Reduction. The passive is called Moonguard which will help Ziya gain immunity to everything for a short time, but you as a player can’t move or attack while it’s active. This is helpful when you are waiting for backup or your Cooldown to finish.
Ziya as Support Hero
Ziya is primarily a mage hero but can be played as a support hero as well because of his passive and mass crowd-control skills. So in this section, I will be suggesting the ideal build for support Ziya.
This build build will ensure survivability while dealing good magic damage to enemies:
- Boots of the Arcane
- Frozen Breath
- Holy Grail
- Tome of Wisdom
- Twilight Stream
- Venomous Staff
Honor of Kings Ziya Gameplay Tips
As a Ziya player, it’s preferred to play safe early games as much as you can while being relied on team fights, Though Ziya is a great damage dealer overall. According to his gameplay, we can divide it into three sections, early game, mid-game, and late game. However, a player must have a good understanding of the map to get the most out of any hero.
Early Game
At first, prioritize Boots of the Arcane and head to mid-lane. Unlock your 2nd skill first, and try to be in your turret reach while cleaning the first wave of minions. Only poke the enemy when you have support and try to be within reach of your support and turret.
After unlocking 1st skill poke enemies as much as you can with both your skills as you will get additional movement speed with your 1st skill while you do this keep checking the map and try to be close to other teammates to get backup at the time. Don’t forget to clear the waves of minions and collect the EXP light orb.
Mid Game
In this phase, remember every player has done their basic farming and except boots has an item or two in their build. Players will start rotating at this point and team fights will be getting more frequent. Participate in team fights while keeping a safe distance so that you can escape the battlefield when the time comes.
Avoid much movement in the jungle without any hero to support you. Keep in mind that you should keep collecting EXP orbs. That will make your late game strong, and support your team whenever you can get kills along the way as those will also provide EXP orbs.
Late Game
As a Ziya player, it is finally the time when you prove your worth, After reaching level 15 you will unlock Sanctify a skill that you will be able to use only once, and increase your ally’s level cap to level 25. A great advantage, my recommendation is to give it either to the player who is carrying the match or the support player.
Keep in mind to be as involved as possible in team fights by dealing damage and immobilizing the enemy whenever you can, Ziya has very little cooldown on skills to spam it once in a while. as it will earn you EXP orbs which will help Ziya to level up to 25 gaining 20 Magical Attacks on each level. This means Ziya will gain 200 Magical Attacks from level 15 to level 25.
Remember to always use 1st skill on escaping enemies as it will reduce their Movement Speed up to 35%, and use 2nd skill as much as you can as it will help you get the enemies launched into the air for 0.75 seconds. Players can utilize the following combo to gain a stronghold on the battlefield:
Skill 1 + Skill 2 + Ulti + Basic Attack
Final Thoughts
Ziya is a great addition to the roster of Honor of Kings, it is much more than just a mage with its unique passive and level mechanics. He might not be the easiest hero to master but with solid practice, you as a player will be able to mold the match the way you like in HOK.
Focus on farming and sustaining in the early game and you will surely dominate the late game. Try out different builds and playstyles to see which works best for you. And don’t forget to enjoy the game in the process. just enjoy the game! Ziya’s a ton of fun once you get the hang of him.
