King’s Choice Uncharted Water (UW) event guide

Rule the seven seas of medival era with UW event

King’s Choice Uncharted Water (UW) event gives a taste of the colonial trade of the Medieval Age. In this event, you buy Cheap Goods from one ancient town and then sail to another town to sell them. Hence, some profit is made by completing the trade; the cumulative profit, or the alliance members’ total voyage wealth/coins, decides the alliance rank on the leader board. Unlike other events in King’s Choice, Uncharted Water (UW) is an alliance-exclusive event. UW, by default, is a cross-server event and a great chance for F2P players to grab the Duke title by becoming the MVP of the event.

In this article, we will mainly focus on two strategies so that you can make informed decisions throughout the event. If you are recently starting with the game, make sure to go through our King’s Choice Beginners Guide and Mount Food Guide to make yourself familiar with all the game’s basic tips and tricks, and also go through our guide on how to win the Knights Paradeunlock the Pets bloodline in King’s Choice and how to utilize them in Pets Race event.

King’s Choice Uncharted Water Event Overview

There are two ways to play this event: 1st, become the Merchant (buy cheaper and sell expensive), 2nd, become the Pirate (plunder other ships and loot them).

The Map

Understanding the Uncharted Waters map is essential if you want to perform well in the event. The map presents a historical view of the world, highlighting 40 key ports from the ancient era. You can travel to any of these ports by spending 1 Supply Barrel. Once you arrive, you’ll be able to trade goods by buying and selling items. Each port also offers a special commodity that is sold at a lower price, indicated by a small icon next to the port.

Voyage Wealth and Initial Coins

Voyager Wealth is the most important resource in the event, as it directly determines your rank in the leaderboard. For alliance ranking, the total is calculated by adding the Voyager Wealth of all alliance members. Your personal Voyager Wealth comes from two sources: the number of Voyager Coins you hold and the total value of the goods currently stored on your ship.

The initial voyage coin is decided based on your lord title or rank. Follow the table

TitleCoins
No Rank20,000
Baron21,000
Earl24,000
Duke28,000

Supply Barrels

To sail from one city to another or to plunder a ship, 1 barrel is consumed. Starting with 6 and restoring 1 every 30 minutes with a maximum capacity of 10. Additionally, you can purchase supply barrels using gold, diamonds, or real money.

Upgrading The Ship

There are 5 areas to upgrade the ship, each of which offers special benefits or advantages towards the event. Depending on the strategy, you should upgrade your ship. (Trying to upgrade all 5 is pointless)

After you consume 5 supply barrels, a free ship upgrade will be offered; you can pick any of the three during the upgrade process. Additionally, you can use 100 gold to upgrade your ship level by 1. A ship can be upgraded up to level 70 (max) with a max skill cap of 20.

Ships Skills

Ship SkillsDescription
Capasity ExpansionIncreases loot after winning a battle – needed to maximise the rewards from a plundering strategy.
Profit %Increased profit from selling goods – a nice little extra for a trading strategy.
Battle LvIncreases your chances of winning a battle – needed for plundering and defending against attacks.
Loot LvIncreases loot after winning a battle – needed to maximize the rewards from a plundering strategy.
Intel LvReduces the gold cost of refreshing nearby targets – useful for plundering strategy.

Selection of Strategy

If you choose to become a Merchant, then you should mainly focus on ‘capacity expansion’ and ‘profit %’ increase with some level of ‘Battle Lv‘. And if you choose to become a Pirate, then you should mainly focus on Battle Lv, Loot Lv, and Intel Lv.

The Merchant

As a merchant, buying and selling goods is the easiest and safest way to grow your Voyager Wealth. The core idea is simple: buy low and sell high as you travel between different ports on the map. At each port, you should aim to purchase the cheapest available good, usually the one priced furthest below 95%. Once you’ve bought it, head to another port where that same good is selling at a higher rate, such as 107%.

Each port specialises in a particular good, which it sells at the lowest price compared to the standard market value. However, the stock at each port is limited. If the speciality item runs out, you’ll need to settle for the next cheapest option. Keep in mind that every move between ports costs 1 Supply Barrel.

Pro Tips

  • If you have enough gold, then upgrade your ship 10 levels (profit%, Capacity, Battle level) at the start of the event using 1000 gold coins. It will give you an edge from the beginning of the event
  • Try to play as soon as the stock resets, else the cheapest goods will be sold out and you won’t be able to make maximum profit from trade.
  • If you want to buy supply chest or if you have some in your bag, try to use them on day 1 and as early as possible.

The Pirate

If you’re looking for PvP action with the potential for big Voyager Wealth gains (with some risk included), the pirate or plundering is the way to go. This allows you to attack nearby players and steal their resources.

Winning a battle rewards you with Voyager Coins along with some of the opponent’s goods (if they have any). Each attack costs 1 Supply Barrel, and to increase your chances of success, you need to upgrade your ship’s Battle Lvl.

To begin plundering, use the Nearby Players option, which displays a list of five possible targets. This list refreshes every three hours along with the ports, or you can refresh it instantly for 120 Gold as many times as you like (you can bring down the cost by upgrading the ‘Intel Lvl‘).

You can also search for a specific player, but this requires War Flags. Choose your targets wisely, as each player can only be attacked once per hour.

Pro Tips

  • At the start of the event, you can loot up to 2% of a target’s Voyager Coins, so it’s worth comparing whether plundering offers better returns than simple trading. You can further increase your loot by upgrading your ship’s Loot skill.
  • Use your barrels nearing the end of each refresh. (Let other players gather some coins)
  • Ideally, go after players with high Wealth and fewer Goods, as this combination offers the best payoff for a successful plunder.
  • Use your supply chests on day 3, as this strategy works best nearing the end of the event or on day 3

Tips to get the Title

In King’s Choice: Uncharted Waters, you compete against players from multiple servers, with rewards based on both your individual performance and your alliance’s overall ranking. The most valuable rewards come from alliance rankings, making teamwork especially important. The main goal is to build as much wealth as possible.

  • Whenever you visit a port, don’t forget to share the goods prices, ideally, share all 4 prices and help your alliance make better trading decisions.
  • On Day 1 and Day 2, trading is usually the safer and more efficient way to earn Voyager Coins. Save plundering for Day 2 or Day 3 of the event. By then, most players will have built up more wealth, making plundering far more profitable.
  • Don’t ignore your defences as the event progresses. Once players start plundering, upgrading your ship’s Battle skill becomes important to help protect yourself from incoming attacks.
  • Try forming non-aggression pacts with players from your own server. Agreeing not to plunder each other reduces the risk of being attacked, though it also limits the number of available targets.
  • Focus on developing Pets with the Bloodline that increases the number of Supply Barrels you start with each day in Uncharted Waters. At max level, this bonus can give you up to 4 extra Supply Barrels daily.
