Blizzard Entertainment made an out-of-the-box decision on the 6th of July, 2022, as accounts of their Russian and Belarusian players were banned to access Diablo Immortal on PC, even with the help of a VPN. The restriction came with the arrival of the second season update of Diablo Immortal. Reports say that, when trying to enter the game, the login and password entry window no longer appears even with the use of a VPN. As soon as the news spread, it has been puzzling to many, as to why Blizzard made such an insignificant decision.
Diablo Immortal: Updated news about Russian and Belarusian accounts being banned
The interesting report that came up after the ban, is that the Russians and Belarusians can still access this game from their mobile phones, even though their accounts are banned. Also, the players in those regions can access the game by changing their regions with the help of a VPN on a PC.
Currently, the exact intention of initiating this ban in Russia and Belarus is still unclear. If we gather certain events that took place a few months back, it can still answer our questions. As Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, numerous gaming companies pulled out of the European superpower.
The reasons can be Russia’s geopolitics for which Blizzard Entertainment decided to put a ban in that region. Belarus also faced the same fate, because of this reason. Although players from those regions can still access the game from their smartphones, confirmed news has not come yet and there might be a case for a complete ban in those regions soon. Therefore, players from those regions can still now enjoy playing the game in certain other ways.
