Well, the fans of the dystopian survival drama series Squid Game can rejoice as a mobile game based on what is on its way! Announced as Squid Game: Unleashed, the title is set to be a multiplayer game that will look to bring the same amount of action and thrill as the Netflix series.
Squid Game: Unleashed will most likely stay true to the original series
Now before I jump into the details of the game, you must know about Squid Game if in case you don’t. Returning with its second season this December of 2024, the first season of the survival K-Drama was a mega-hit, and one of Netflix’s biggest most watched seasons.
Rumors were floating around back in 2021 on how Netflix wanted to bring an official Squid Game title. We did see an unofficial remake titled Squid Game 3D: Survival in the same year, but that was a dud. However, in 2023, among the 2024 lineup of games announced, Netflix confirmed a title based on the Squid Game Universe.
So I believe that the intense survival challenges and high-stakes competition we saw in the webseries will reflect in the game as well. Multiplayers pit into each other with different games of survival would be an amazing experience, but not sure how many starting players would be set by the developer. Forming teams was also a part of survival in the series, so we might see that too as we battle to survive each round.
More details of the game will be revealed during the Gamescom event on August 20, 2024. Upon release, the game will be arriving on Netflix Games as the cover suggests.
As of now for Squid Game: Unleashed, no release date has been disclosed yet. The platforms are yet to be confirmed, but the game should be available on both Android and iOS. Fans of the popular series or those curious about the game should keep an eye out for future updates.
