Subway Surfers City Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
Here is a bonus section in our Subway Surfers City Beginners Guide for budding surfers that would help them with some useful tips and cheats to set new running records. What follows next, are some useful tips and strategies from our experience of playing the game so that you guys go up the ladder quickly in this endless runner simulation.
1. Do not forget to check out the Missions section
The in-game Missions section is undoubtedly the most rewarding arena for any mobile game. The same applies in-case of Subway Surfers City as loads of in-game resources including Coins, Keys, Experience Points, and, even new Surfers can be bagged. Every day when you log in to the game, the first task should be to check out this section for the Daily Missions. As you climb up to Level 3, the Missions section gets unlocked.
The in-game Missions section consists of two tabs: Rookie Missions and Daily Missions. The Daily missions section unlocks after level 6. A set of easy-to-complete challenges, like collecting a certain amount of Coins/magnets during the run or reaching a target score during a run. If you check out this section first, it will allow you to plan your runs accordingly for the day.
If you are a newbie, fret not, you will be rewarded a decent amount of XPs that would push you upwards quickly towards Level 6. So, look to cash on this section. Most of the challenges set under Rookie Missions would be completed unknowingly by you while playing the game. Visit this section as soon as it is unlocked to claim the rewards due for the same.
2. Upgrade your Surfers whenever possible
Just as it is in the regular Subway Surfers title, you Jake to start with as the sole surfer. When you start progressing up the levels, you get to collect more surfers via rewards and Super Boxes. Upgrading your surfers increases their Experience points allowing them to level up.
A pre-defined amount of in-game coins needs to be consumed to level them up. Leveling up your player increases the longevity parameter during runs by enhancing their performance. When you start the run, the surfer runs comparatively slower. However, your Surfer speed increases by tenfold as the run progresses. Hence, upgrade your surfers whenever possible so that they can unlock and upgrade their special abilities.
3. Equip the hoverboard during the run whenever available
As you go on a run, besides Coins and magnets that are available in regular Subway Surfers, you also get some Blue Energy items on the way. Even if they are on parallel tracks, make sure that you switch tracks if possible, to collect them. Each time you collect a certain number of these items, the hoverboard activates for you. You can tap on that to make your surfer use that. Hoverboards can make your maneuvering through tracks pretty smooth and help you collect more freebies along the way.
Additionally, if you collide against an obstacle/train with the Serviceboard equipped, the run doesn’t end for you, and all obstacles/trains get cleared within the next 50-100 meter range. Most people think that they would save their hoverboards and use them towards the end when the run becomes faster.
However, until and unless you are utilizing the hoverboard, all the Blue Energy items that you collect while the hoverboard is active are deemed void. You can always recharge and re-activate the hoverboard by collecting these Energy items, once it is utilized.
4. Be informed about the ability of your Surfer before going on a run with him
Before selecting your Surfer and going on a run with him, please note that each surfer comes with a special personality/trait. To put their personality to good use, you must plan your runs according to their traits. Since Jake is the default character that all of you guys need to start with, let’s understand this keeping Jake as a reference.
Suppose you are going on a run with Jake, the surfer has two special personalities: the Magnetic Personality and the Wheehead personality. The magnetic personality ensures that whenever you equip him with an activated hoverboard, if you try to collect magnets from the same or parallel tracks within the time that the board is active, the magnet duration would increase and you can use the magnet to attract coins from parallel tracks for a prolonged period.
With the Wheelhead personality, you can prolong the lifetime of the currently charged hoverboard with each Coin that you collect. New traits can additionally be unlocked for your surfer by upgrading them. Make sure that you are aware of these special abilities of your runner before going for a run with him so that you can plan your moves during the run accordingly.
To check the special attributes associated with your Surfer, navigate to the Surfers ab and tap on your Surfer. You get to choose at the start of the run, which special ability of your surfer you wish to utilize during the run.
5. Personalize your Hoverboard before going for a run
To start with, you will have only a single hoverboard. However, you can unlock more hoverboards from Super boxes and by leveling up. Just as it is for surfers, each hoverboard comes with a unique attribute. The basic hoverboard, for instance, that you will be having as a newbie can help you prolong the magnetic effect if your surfer collects a magnet while on the run.
As you keep on unlocking new hoverboards, each of them will come with special attributes. Some hoverboards can even get you double points when you equip your surfer with it. So, in a scenario where you have multiple options to choose from, make sure that you are picking the hoverboard that can give you the best results, before going for the run.
6. Collect various items and XPs as you dodge past the obstacles
In Subway Surfers City, the underlying theme is the same as that of the regular Subway Surfers game that all of us have played for years. Your surfer would be chased by the police for doing graffiti on trains. While running from the police, you need to dodge all sorts of obstacles. Obstacles would mainly be in the form of standing or approaching trains and depending on the size of the obstacles, you need to jump, crawl, or navigate to a parallel track.
In Subway Surfers City, you might as well have to cross water bodies during your run, by climbing from one container-top to another, placed on the water in different lanes. While on your run, you need to collect as many freebies as possible from the tracks, especially the Coins that help to upgrade your Surfer, the booster items like Magnets that help you attract coins from all parallel tracks, and the Blue Energy items that activate your hoverboard to prolong your run.
To level up in Subway Surfers City, you need to collect loads and loads of Experience Points. Apart from getting them via Missions, XPs are obtainable by just playing the game. The longer your run-time the more Experience Points you get to earn from that run.
