Warzone on Mobile platforms soon!

This post was last updated on

Activision’s big-hit battle royale Call of Duty Warzone has seen incredible success in the last several months, with the game getting over 75 million players, since its release in March 2020. But now it seems that there is something very interesting in the pipeline for the future of this game. It looks like COD Warzone is heading to mobile devices in the near future if a leaked job listing is anything to go by. A release on mobile would help expand the title to more regions worldwide.

COD Warzone coming to mobile devices soon?

Going by the job listing which was posted earlier, tells us that the position has since been filled. All thanks to Charlie Intel for putting up this news.

COD Warzone heading to Mobile
The job posting from Activision

While it was up, it indicated that Activision is looking for an executive producer, features to work on a new Call Of Duty title called WZM. This, presumably, is a codename for Warzone Mobile – and a fairly unimaginative one at that. But the highlight of the job description that hints of COD Warzone heading to mobile is this.

As Executive Producer, features you will own product framing and player experience of a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise. Developing in collaboration with multiple Activision studio locations around the world, this leader is a skilled communicator and development leader who can define and harvest the important elements that define a best-in-class mobile shooter game…

The listing then went on to reference COD Warzone specifically multiple times. The job listing stated that the successful candidate would need to harvest, adapt, and deliver the essential features from COD Warzone console and PC into their best mobile instantiation. It also mentioned improving the Call of Duty Warzone formula by adding in mobile-specific features. Additionally, serving as a primary point of contact on the Warzone Mobile leadership team.

Going off this job listing, Activision also hinted at more things to come for Call of Duty on mobile platforms. During an August investors call, Activision had to say this regarding the future of the franchise on mobile devices.

COD Mobile is off to a really great start. But we’re just scratching the surface of what that franchise can be on mobile, and then integrating the experiences across multiple platforms. We know this is just an incredible opportunity for the franchise.

Dennis Durkin, CFO, Activision Blizzard

Activision already has a free to play game, Call of Duty Mobile with its own Battle Royale mode. The BR mode in COD Mobile has locations from various COD titles combined into a singular experience. The new release would be a different FPS Call of Duty game that will bring Warzone’s experience to mobile players.

We guess Activision feels it can go bigger and create a larger battle royale experience on mobile with the release of COD Warzone on Mobile platforms. This game would make use of juggernaut COD Warzone branding. We’ll find out soon enough.
