eFootball PES 2021 v5.6.0 Update overview

The stopgap update is here!

Even though the eventual eFootball 2022 update got pushed to Spring, KONAMI had announced that a new update will be coming to mobile which will adapt the latest data accordingly with the real footballing world. Finally, with an update without many bugs and delays, the v5.6.0 update for PES 2021 was live on December 16th, 2021. The update came with roster changes, new kits, emblems, and also some new faces to boast from. Players are curious about the changes that are present in this update, and this article will also help to explain the same.

Latest additions in the PES 2021 v5.6.0 update

Roster and Kit Updates

This is the best part, isn’t it? Nearly four months after the football season began, players were still disappointed in looking at the old rosters without player updates in the scene. Messi to PSG, Ronaldo to Manchester United, two big transfers of the season, and in PES this being not reflected was something the fans missed and eagerly waited for. This update settled things with ease, and now you can enjoy your favorite players and teams, both updated.

Also, the kits are also according to the new season. Many teams had come up with spectacular kits at the start of the season, and players now can enjoy their favorite teams in the game with the dashing kits on them!

Live Updates and Featured players

This is something that was missed by many, live updates and the weekly featured players might seem repetitive, but once they stopped appearing on our screens, we did miss them. So, with them coming back, we can expect our players to reflect their real-life performances in the game, with some shiny cards featuring every week.

New Players added

Like every update, PES 2021 v5.6.0 comes with new faces, and also after transfers, there are some new additions like Upamecano, who wasn’t present in the previous version of the game. Also, for those who love to collect young talents, many new faces have been added. These include Barcelona’s Gavi, Demir, Balde who have been recently featured for the first team along with other young players. They come with huge potential and without a surprise, with good stats, so it is a good opportunity for players to cash on these young stars and play them in different squads.

New Iconic Moments

As per the rumors, we can expect an IM Samuel Eto’o’s Barcelona version card and an IM Alphonso Davies card in the game arriving soon. Already, IM Cannavaro has appeared, and the former Ballon D’or winner has already got a lot of attention from the players thanks to his impressive stats. As the season goes, we shall see how things stand overall.

Player Upgrades and Downgrades

Part of every update comes to the analysis of player performances throughout the season, and on the basis of the same, the final ratings are decided. The standouts get an upgrade, and the not-so-impressive ones, sadly, will have to undergo a downgrade. This is the same this season too. The 2020-21 season saw many players emerge among the masses as the best, where few names include Lewandowski, Vlahovic, Foden, Coman, Barella, etc, all have got impressive upgrades.

Similarly, Dembele, Umtiti, Roberto, Mertens, Arthur, Coutinho, Firmino are some names who have suffered a downgrade from their previous ratings. This majorly got influenced by the number of games missed by the players, and also their inconsistency to maintain the best performances too.

Playstyle Changes

This was bound to happen. Players in their teams had adopted new positions and roles, which are now updated in the game too. Although some playstyles like Goal Poacher Ronaldo, Hole Player Gundogan, Creative Playmaker Ilicic make sense considering their roles in their respective teams, Target Man for Depay, Orchestrator Brozovic seems to be a little farfetched.

New Managers and Formations

Many PES tacticians love trying out different managers, and this update won’t disappoint regarding the same. New formations have made way along with new managers, and updated formations for the already existing managers are also noticed. These will follow the live updates too, and hopefully, we can see more new formations and tactics to try out in-game.

Final Thoughts

Firstly, there were not many changes expected firsthand with the update. This was considered as a stopgap to the major eFootball 2022 update, and this has served the cause rightly. Not many complaints, or anything to praise too. They did their job decently, and we should be thankful to the gods that there wasn’t any kind of a lengthy maintenance scene like those every year horrors. What is disappointing is that there were no Legends added, where legend versions of Forlan or Giggs would have been better additions.

IM news is also good, but still, it is the same old cycle, overrating of cards. Flashy pink cards and people do not know to hate them unless they don’t get any. Eto’o and Cannavaro are seriously neat additions, but Davies still is having a huge IM potential. This isn’t surprising anymore, to be honest. Overall, a decent effort by KONAMI but nothing interesting other than waiting for your favorite performers to come as featured players on Thursday.
