Team of the Season (TOTS) has officially arrived in EA Sports‘ FC Mobile as of April 23, 2026, and this time it brings some of the big changes we are seeing for the first time in an event. Yes, as confirmed, Shards are returning, but it leads to the introduction of a completely new Triple Formula system.
On top of that, the overall player cap jumps from 117 to 120 OVR, introducing a new top tier of cards that are harder to obtain and more valuable long-term. FC Mobile 26 Team of the Season Explained
The Triple Formula and Tag System
The core of this event revolves around what the game calls the Triple Formula. Instead of using a standard currency to claim players, you now collect Tags and use them to filter the type of rewards you want.
There are three types of Tags involved. League Tags let you choose a specific league, like the Premier League, while OVR Tags allow you to set a minimum rating, such as 114+. Once you apply both, the game narrows down the reward pool to match those conditions.
As you progress, a third slot called the Custom Tag unlocks after your first five player claims. This adds another layer of control, letting you target specific roles like attackers, midfielders, defenders, or even Moments players.
One of the biggest positives here is that once you have the required tags, there is no additional cost to claim a player. The system is purely based on how efficiently you farm and use your tags.
Each claim also contributes to a milestone path. As you keep claiming players, you move forward on this track, and once you reach 40 claims, you unlock a guaranteed 117 OVR UTOTS player when that chapter becomes available.
Star Signings and the Return of Shards
Shards are back in TOTS, and they play a major role in how you target high-value players. The Star Signings section essentially acts as a controlled market where you can directly claim players instead of relying on luck using shards you collect.
You earn Star Shards in multiple ways throughout the event. Daily Tasks now give a consistent 100 shards. You can also release unwanted TOTS players to convert them into shards, which adds value to every pull you get.
On top of that, older Phase 2 Tokens can be converted into shards, with 1 token fetching you 15 shards. Event quests also contribute to your shard income over time. The conversion rates from TOTS onwards are as follows:

TOTS Draft and 120 OVR players
The Draft system returns with a noticeable improvement in its guarantee mechanics. Previously, reaching top-tier rewards required up to 100 drafts, but this has now been reduced to 70. The introduction of 120 OVR players changes how you approach the event.
These cards are significantly rarer, especially in Draft pulls. Because of that, while you can still get them through Draft, the more reliable way to obtain these elite players is through the Star Signings system if you save enough shards over time.
Event Progression, Star Pass, and Additional Rewards
Your day-to-day gameplay during TOTS revolves around two main areas. The League Chapters are where you play matches and skill games tied to specific leagues, earning tokens and tags in the process. Alongside that, with Division Rivals matches, you can earn up to three tags per day.
The TOTS Star Pass features 118 OVR Eric Cantona as the main reward, and he comes pre-ranked with strong stats and five-star skill moves. Another important addition is the League Exchange, where you can trade 40,000 league points for a 117 OVR Roy Keane. Even if he doesn’t fit into your team, he still holds strong value since he can be converted into around 2,250 Star Shards.
