Genshin Impact “The Exquisite Night Chimes” Version 3.4 Phase 1: Character and weapon banners

Genshin Impact Version 3.4 will go live once the server maintenance is over on the 18th of January, 2022. The server maintenance begins at 06:00 (UTC+8) on the 18th of January, 2023, and is estimated to take 5 hours. Players will be able to pull on the character and weapon banners, once the 3.4 Update goes live. The banners will be available till the 7th of February, 2023 at 17:59 server time. The Version 3.4 Update Phase 1 banner will feature one new 5* character, one new 5* weapon, and one new 4* character. In this article, we will discuss the character and weapon banners of the Genshin Impact Version 3.4 Update Phase 1.

Genshin Impact Version 3.4 Phase 1 First Character Banner: Caution In Confidence

This banner will be the debut of the event-exclusive 5* character “Admonishing Instruction” Alhaitham (Dendro/sword). He was first introduced as an NPC in Version 3.0 and played a major role in the Sumeru Archon Quest.

Alhaitham is the first event exclusive 5* Dendro main DPS character, who can also act as a bloom/hyperbloom enabler. Tighnari was the first Dendro main DPS character, who had an event banner, but he was added to the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation ever since and he is no longer event exclusive.

“Admonishing Instruction” Alhaitham will receive a huge drop rate boost during this banner. Alhaitham will be accompanied by the 4* characters “Burgeoning Grace” Yaoyao (Dendro/polearm), “Stage Lucida” Yun Jin (Geo/polearm), and “Blazing Riff” Xinyan (Pyro/claymore), who will also receive a huge drop-rate boost.

Among these, Yun Jin and Xinayan are permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates. Yaoyao will be permanently available in the Standard Wish after Version 3.3 ends. Yaoyao is a new 4* Dendro character being released alongside Alhaitham. She was teased and confirmed to be playable a very long time ago, and her time is finally here.

Genshin Impact Version 3.4 Phase 1 Second Character Banner: Invitation To Mundane Life

This banner features the third rerun of the first Anemo main DPS character in Genshin Impact, “Vigilant Yaksha” Xiao (Anemo/polearm). He was released all the way back in version 1.3. “Vigilant Yaksha” Xiao will receive a huge drop rate boost during this banner.

Xiao will be accompanied by the 4* characters “Burgeoning Grace” Yaoyao (Dendro/polearm), “Stage Lucida” Yun Jin (Geo/polearm), and “Blazing Riff” Xinyan (Pyro/claymore), who will also receive a huge drop-rate boost. Yun Jin and Xinayan are permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates.

Yaoyao will be permanently available in the Standard Wish after version 3.3 ends. Yaoyao is a new 4* Dendro character being released alongside Alhaitham. She was teased and confirmed to be playable a very long time ago, and her time is finally here.

Genshin Impact Version 3.4 Phase I Weapon Banner: Epitome Invocation

This banner features the debut of Alhaitham’s signature best-in-slot 5* weapon Light of Foliar Incision (Sword), as well as a rerun of Xiao’s signature best-in-slot 5* weapon, Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (Polearm). Both of them will receive a huge drop rate boost.

The banner also features the event-exclusive 4-star weapon Lithic Spear (Polearm), as well as the 4-star weapons The Flute (Sword), Rainslasher (Claymore), The Widsith (Catalyst), and Sacrificial Bow (Bow). All of them will receive a huge drop rate boost. Among these, the Lithic Spear will not be available in the Standard Wish.

The Flute (Sword), Rainslasher (Claymore), The Widsith (Catalyst), and Sacrificial Bow (Bow) are permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates.

Final Verdict: Should players go for the banners

Character banners

Being the first of his kind, Alhaitham will probably be attractive to many players. His playstyle and animations seem a little similar to Keqing, but he belongs to the Dendro element. Dendro is a valuable element and Dendro characters are as good as their ability to apply Dendro. Since Alhaitham gains a temporary infusion, he will probably be an amazing Dednro unit. The only way Alhaitham could be bad is if Hoyoverse nerfs his scalings.

Being his third rerun, many players will probably skip Xiao. Those who want him most likely already have him. He had one of the longest breaks between his release and his first rerun, but after the introduction of the double rerun policy, he has had fewer patches between his subsequent reruns.

The elephant of the room would be the reruns of Hu Tao and Yelan that are coming in the second half of version 3.4. They are really amazing characters on their own, and they have great synergy with each other as well. It is perfectly understandable if many players choose to skip both Alhaitham and Xiao in favor of Hu Tao and Yelan.

The 4* characters on this banner are pretty underwhelming. Neither Xinyan nor Yun Jin has any genuine synergy with either Alhaitham or Xiao. Yaoyao is a new character so it is difficult to make any comments about her place in the META. Yun Jin has synergy with Kamisato Ayato and Yoimiya, so fans of those characters may be incentivized to pull on these banners, but generally players are advised against pulling on these banners for the 4* characters. Players should only pull if they intend to obtain Alhaitham or Xiao.

Weapon banner

This weapon banner is one of the worst weapon banners in recent times. On one hand, Light of Foliar Incision is a really great weapon for Alhaitham. It has an amazing Crit DMG substat, but most characters will not be able to utilize the passive effect of this weapon. It is not worth obtaining this weapon, just for the Crit DMG substat. Out of all the sword users, probably only Keqing can take advantage of the passive effect only if she is built with EM.

On the other hand, Primordial Jade Winged-Spear is permanently available in Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates. Its drop rate is shared with other 5* items in that banner, but it is entirely obtainable without having to pull on the weapon banner. It is not worth pulling for Light of Foliar Incision since there is a chance of obtaining Primordial Jade Winged-Spear instead.

Among the 4* weapons on the weapon banner, only The Widsith. It is not required to pull on the weapon banner to obtain this weapon since it is available in all of the character events’ wishes and even the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation with regular 4* drop rates.
