Mobile Legends Patch 1.6.86 Update: New Talent System, Hero and Battlefield adjustments and more

Lots of balance changes and a reworked Talent System!

The developers at MOONTON Games had previously introduced a new Talent System during the last Patch 1.6.74 Update in Advanced Server. After a few test runs and checks, the developers had scrapped the whole system during the Patch 1.6.80 Update. With the onset of the Patch 1.6.86 Update in Mobile Legends, the developers have tweaked and reworked the Talent System with optimized visuals and talent effects. Let us explore the Patch 1.6.86 Update in detail.

Mobile Legends Patch 1.6.86 Update: Revamped Talent System

With improved aesthetics and talent effects, the Talent system has returned to the Advanced Server. Using Talent Essence, players will be able to unlock talents in this test. During this test, all of the Emblem Fragments and Magic Dust that players have collected will be turned into Talent Essence at a 1:1 ratio. The developers have also planned a special event for Advanced Server, which will allow players to assist them to obtain Talent Essence more quickly.

Before launching the system on the Official Server, the developers will continue to optimize it with numerous rounds of testing. The present effect levels may possibly alter in the future. During the testing phase, the Talent System will be reworked and removed, with the system data being reset. The earned Talent Essence will be unaffected. During this change, some of the former emblem-related tasks and milestones will be unavailable.

Mobile Legends Patch 1.6.86 Update: New Talent System Changes

The Talent system is made up of the following four sections:

  1. Fixed Attributes: Each set of fixed attributes consists of 4 attributes that cannot be changed, similar to the attributes of the Wheel on the right half of the current Emblem screen. Different sets are visualized as different weapons, which represent heroes’ innate fighting abilities. Each weapon can change into 4 other forms according to the selected talents (temporarily replaced with images).
  2. Core Talents: Core talents have the strongest effects and are divided into three sub-types: Offensive, Defensive, and Utility. Core talents are similar to the Tier 3 talents in the current emblem system, though no point allocation is required.
  3. Regular Skill Talents: Regular skill talents have weaker effects than core talents do, and most of them also have specific trigger conditions. Similar to core talents, they are divided into three sub-types: Offensive, Defensive, and Utility.
  4. Regular Attribute Talents: Regular attribute talents have similar enhancement effects as regular skill talents and provide a single attribute each. They are also divided into three sub-types: Offensive, Defensive, and Utility.

Upgrade mechanics

  • The system-level increases with the account level, gradually unlocking the three talent slots and the three talent plans for each hero.
  • The level of fixed attributes increases with the system level and does not require extra costs.
  • Talents corresponding to the three talent slots need to be unlocked using Talent Essence, once the slots are unlocked.
  • There are two ways to unlock your talents. The total Talent Essence cost is the same, though the number of talents that can be activated, via the second option. It will be limited after the official launch. The limit isn’t applied in this test.

The talents have been directly purchased using a relatively high number of Talent Essence, after which you gain unlimited access to the talent. Another alternating factor is to Activate the talent using a small number of Talent Essence, after which you would need to pay a certain amount of Talent Essence to be able to use it for each match. The talent will be permanently unlocked once you use it the specified number of times. We expect Option 2 to allow new players to try more talents shortly after they enter the game.
