Tips to master Menki in the game!

Menki is a newly launched fighter/mage in Honor of Kings who can be played as a jungler too. He is a combination of physical and magical damage with a high rate of survivability. The best part of Menki is that he can be played in three different roles in the game, depending on the requirements. In this Honor of Kings guide, we will take a look at the skills, and best builds, including tips and tricks to dominate every game with Menki.

We have previously discussed how to master playing with other Honor of Kings heroes like Diaochan, Private Ear, Solarus, Lady Sun, Musashi, Mirrorblade, Eternal Sage, Peacekeeper, and Arthur. So make sure to check these hero guides as well. For now, let’s focus on Menki.

Mastering Menki is not very easy, but once you get familiar with his passive and skill-casting abilities, you will automatically understand how much potential he has. Menki has a good set of crowd control abilities, damage, and blink skill, so we can rate him as an A-tier hero with a moderate level of difficulty. Now without further ado, let’s just jump into the Hero’s Gorge to dominate the battlefield.

Skill Analysis

Menki is a hero that has four abilities which are one passive and three active. In this Menki guide, let’s see what are his abilities in Honor of Kings, and when you can use which skill to get the best out of him.

Passive – Dream Eating (Damage)

This skill can be considered Menki’s massive damage output. He gathers mass every time he uses his skill, and it can be seen below Menki’s HP bar. After collecting 10 masses, he will be buff with +6 physical attack, +8 physical defense, and +8 magical defense.

But remember, the mass is not permanent; he will gradually lose 5 mass per second when he is in a fight and 15 mass per second when out of combat. So at first, gather your mass by hitting the jungle monster, then indulge yourself in a team fight to take advantage.

Skill 1 – Lingering Dream (Damage)

CD – 6 seconds
Mana Cost – null

Upon casting this skill, Menki will create a shield around him and soak 175 (+150% physical attack) /210/245/280/315/350 amount of damage for the next 4 seconds while dealing 250 (+60% physical attack)/300/350/400/450/500 amount of magical damage to nearby enemies. In this phase, Menki’s mass will be increased by 30 and his skill cooldown reduced by 0.5/0.6/0.7/0.8/0.9/1 second when he hits an enemy with his basic attacks.

Skill 2 – Dream Bubble (Damage, Crowd Control)

CD – 10/9.6/9.2/8.8/8.4/8 seconds
Mana Cost – null

This is the most important skill for Menki. Upon casting this skill, he will release a dream bubble towards the designated direction and increase his movement speed by 30% for the next 2 seconds while dealing 130 (+20% magical attack)/152/174/196/218/240 amount of damage to enemies and placing 1 stack of slow effect on them for the next 2 seconds (capped at 4 stacks).

This dream bubble works like a boomerang and returns to Menki after reaching its maximum range. When he catches the bubble, it will bounce back to a nearby enemy while providing 30 mass for Menki and then turn into a Dream Bomb. This Dream Bomb can be thrown at the enemies again which can deal 100 (+24% magical attack) – 550 (+132% magical attack)/128/156/184/212/240 amount of damage.

Note: Remember that the Dream Bomb’s damage depends upon the distance traveled by the Dream Bubble. So, the longer the dream bubble flies, the higher the damage of the dream bomb (capped at 5.5 seconds of flight time).

CD – 40/35/30 seconds
Mana Cost – null

Upon casting this skill, Menki will start flying in a circular path and gaining continuous mass while dealing 150 (+30% Physical Attack) (+30% Magical Attack) /225/300 amount of base damage to enemies. Menki is immune to all attacks when he starts flying. If you press this skill again, he will instantly stop flying; upon finishing the circuit, if he collides with an enemy again, he will deal 150 (+30% Physical Attack) (+30% Magical Attack) /225/300 amount of launch damage while performing a short knock up effect for 0.75 seconds.

Honor of Kings Menki Gameplay Tips

According to Menki’s skill-casting abilities, we can categorize him as a hard-to-play type hero. He is very strong in 1V1. So, clash lane and jungle are both suitable for him. According to his gameplay, we can break it down into three phases. Our Honour of Kings Menki’s guide includes the perfect game plan for the early, mid, and late games of the game. However, a player must have a good understanding of the map to get the most out of any hero.

Early Game

At level 1, unlock your first skill and purchase a hunting knife. Then aim for the blue buff and nearby jungle monsters, then rotate to the red buff and the same nearby jungle monsters.

After this, you will reach level 4 and gank the clash lane or gold lane as per the enemy positions. But do not overextend the fight. Use this combo to kill far-off enemies.

Skill 1 + Skill 2 + Basic Attack + Skill 2 + Basic Attack + Skill 1 + Basic Attack

Mid Game

Use Skill 2 to harass enemies, but first, you should know how it works. If you are casting skill 2 then it will deal damage to enemies twice and then again you can cast it to deal massive damage to a particular enemy while keeping a safe distance from them because it will grant you movement speed at the first phase, try to use your movement speed to catch the bubble from its maximum distance.

Skill 1 + Skill 2 + Basic Attack + Skill 2 + Basic Attack + Skill 2 + Skill 3 +Skill 1

In between this, try to secure the tyrant and the overlord. Use the bushes for ganking, and do not show yourself often on the map because the enemy will be hard to kill in mid-phase. Finally, aim to collect the gold as soon as possible because items are the only thing that can slay enemies easily.

Late Game

In the late phase, Menki shines the most; keeps repeating the process to dominate the battlefield. During a team fight, always aim your ultimate and skill 2 at the damage dealer to make sure that you hit the right target. Do not hesitate to do 1v1 or 1v2, because at this stage you will gain massive damage.

You can use this combo in team fights. This hero has two ranged attacks so use them wisely to kill the opponent’s ranged hero. It will give your team a boost to push lane more often. Try to secure Tempest Dragon if you need it because it will give you a boost to push.

Additionally, if players want to try out Menki on the battlefield as an Assassin, they may go to Settings and then Free Attack Mode (advanced). Set the Target Prior to the Nearest Unit and of the enemy avatar and auto-basic attack. Players can follow the finger-press position on the Skill Wheel and swipe to the cancel button.

Final Thoughts

No doubt Menki is a difficult hero to master, but once you get used to it and understand the whole skill mechanics, you will realize how much potential he has. The whole combo listed above will be at your fingertips. But it is also true that Menki is a bit of a squishy hero in the early phase, so try to avoid burst damage and crowd control effects.

Once you get caught, you cannot easily escape because you do not have a flash. Try to poke enemies first with your skill 2 then cast skill one to soak damage and do not think twice to use your ultimate during escape cause in this phase you are immune to attacks and CC.

Moreover, it is a very fun-to-play type of hero and can turn the whole game into a late phase with a surprise attack. An excellent pick for rank games, Menki is definitely a good pick for the current meta. These tips will surely help you to guide easy wins with Menki in Honor of Kings.
