Squad Busters from Supercell has received all of us players’ feedback, and have come with a banger August 2024 update. That’s right, there is a lot to discuss in this update, most importantly the new additions, including worlds, characters, currency, and also some removals from the game.

Squad Busters August 2024 Update: All new features explained
The latest Squad UPdate, or “Squapdate,” as they would like to call it, has a lot of new things arriving. But before that, let me give you an overview of what features have been removed from the game.
Battle Bag, Mega Units, Battle Battle Mode – All removed
The Battle Bag, along with Keys and Rerolls, is being removed. However, the makers have confirmed that Normal Keys will still appear in matches, but they’ll no longer be found in the Shop or as rewards. Although Rerolls are gone, the Refresh option will remain and be free to use three times per match.
Another major removal in the game is the Mega Units. MEGAS will be phased out as consumables, transitioning into Skins instead. So if you are among the ones who unlocked MEGAS before the update, you will automatically receive the corresponding Skins for free, plus additional rewards based on the number of Keys, Rerolls, and MEGAS you’ve had. MEGA Start Mod is also gone.
Since MEGAS is out, the MEGA Bank is also being removed. In its place, a Pinata Bank will be introduced in the Gem Pass, offering a new set of rewards for the Gems you collect after completing the Pass.
Another major disappearance will be the Baby Battle mode, which the makers say is getting rid of due to “popular demand”. Other changes include Lucky Finds, which in battles will now grant Fused Characters, and the Chest Doublers also get an update, which will not be exactly under a removal but remains without the previous time limitations.
New World: Lava World
Just like the previous June 2024 update, we are getting a new World. In the cold, we had the Ice World, but as it is getting hotter this Summer, the makers cheekily bring a fiery new environment in Lava World, which will be packed with familiar monsters and a special Volcano Gem Mine.
New Characters and Battle Mods
Coming with the Lava World are three new characters, Archer, Miner, and Leon, having rarities Common, Rare, and Epic respectively. Archer is an attacker with the Arrow Volley ability that triggers after every 12 attacks. The Defender Miner can burrow and attack using Turbo. Lastly, Leon, a Speedster, can cast an Invisibility Spell.
Here’s a surprise, you can earn all three characters for free by participating in the Lava World Event, which will run for a week following the update.
Three exciting new mods are coming as well, namely Crystal Forest, Timeout, and Hatchling Herder.
In Crystal Forest, you start with a massive Hero Greg in a race to chop down hundreds of Magic Trees. The second mod, Timeout, is an intense mod where everyone begins with 200 Gems, but if you don’t gather enough time to make it to the end, you’ll run out of time and you’ll be bombed off the battle.
Finally, in Hatchling Herder, you must capture and protect Giant Hatchlings that follow them around. It is pretty funny when babies follow you around, making you feel like a shepherd with a flock. However, the more you collect, the easier they are to steal, so be on guard.
Style Tickets, Gameplay Updates, and Other Additions
A new collectible currency has been introduced as well, which is called Style Tickets. Well, this was in the beta version, but since the global launch, we will be getting it for the first time. These can be earned from the Gem Pass, Reward Tracks, and Events. Used to purchase specific Skins and Emotes in the Shop.
Alongside Emotes, another section will appear called Action Emotes. This new feature allows you to assign Emotes to specific actions, triggering them automatically during battles whenever they are being triggered by certain actions that your character does, though manual use is still possible.
In addition, the Burgers and Bullets Season will commence as soon as the current Gem Pass ends, running for two weeks, although with faster reward collection. Looking ahead, the Monster Madness Season will begin in September, introducing the Spooky Pup Rider in the Super Pass, with Infernal Battle Healer and Spooky Trader making appearances in the Shop.
