Glaceon is one of the more expensive Pokémon available for purchase. It can be purchased for either 10000 Aeos coins or 500 Aeos Gems from the in-game shop called the Unite Battle Committee. The shop consists of all the characters available from which players can view general info, stats, and abilities of the Pokémon before purchasing them.

Pokémon Unite Glaceon movesets

Glaceon is heavily reliant on using ability-based combos to deal great amounts of burst damage to singled-out opposing Pokémon, through the use of mobility or crowd control. Glaceon’s first ability can be hard to hit, but using Flame Charge to reposition quickly or fire spin to incapacitate enemies for a short time. These abilities can hit more easily and do great amounts of damage. In this Pokémon Unite Glaceon Guide, we will look at the movesets of Glaceon.

Eevee Passive – Run Away

When the Pokémon would be affected by a hindrance, the hindrance is negated and the Pokémon becomes invincible for a short time. This ability goes on cooldown after it is triggered.

Glaceon Passive – Snow Cloak

When the Pokémon would be affected by a hindrance, the hindrance is negated and the Pokémon starts sneaking and becomes invisible for a short time. This ability goes on cooldown after it is triggered.

Basic Attack

Becomes a boosted attack every third attack, dealing increased damage and granting Glaceon an ice crystal whenever the attack hits

Ability 1 – Swift

Creates four stars around the user. For a short time afterward, each time the user hits an opposing Pokémon with a basic attack, one of the stars (or two if the attack is boosted ) will shoot out and deal additional damage

Ability choices at level 4

Ability 1 evolves into one of the two abilities at level 4.

Icicle SpearIcy Wind
Players would launch all of its stored ice crystals in rapid succession at the designated opposing Pokémon. Launched ice crystals can hit Pokémon on the opposing team which is not the designated target of the move. If this occurs, the ice crystals will still shatter on impact and deal damage in an area of effect in the same way.

Ice crystals launched by this move deal increasing damage each time they hit the same opposing Pokémon. After this move is used, the cooldown of Ice Shard/Freeze Dry is reduced.
The move has the player move a short distance in the designated direction, and its next basic attack launches all of its stored ice crystals at an opposing Pokémon, dealing damage to it. The player then regains the same number of ice crystals that it launched. If the user hits the same opposing Pokémon with {1} or more ice crystals, that Pokémon’s movement speed is decreased for a short time.

The more ice crystals that hit that Pokémon, the stronger this movement speed-decrease effect. If the user has no ice crystals when this move is used, the user gains {@} ice crystals).”
Upgrade (Lvl 11): Each launched ice crystal also deals additional damage to opposing Pokémon it hits equal to a set percentage of their max HP.Upgrade (Lvl 11): Each launched ice crystal also deals additional damage to opposing Pokémon it hits equal to a set percentage of their max HP.

Ability 2 – Tail Whip

Has the user wag its tail at an opposing Pokémon, dealing damage that decreases that Pokémon’s Defense, Special Defense, and speed for a short time. The next basic attack after this move becomes a boosted basic attack.

Ability choices at level 6

Ability 2 evolves into one of the two abilities at level 6.

Ice ShardFreeze-dry
The skill increases the player’s movement speed for a short time. Afterward, the player’s basic attack speed increases for a short time, and its basic attacks change into attacks that hurl chunks of ice.

These chunks of ice deal damage to opposing Pokémon they hit and decrease their movement speed for a short time. Each time a chunk of ice hits, the user gains ice crystals. The user gains ice crystal, if this move is used while launching ice crystals with Icicle Spear, or if it’s used after Icy Wind has been used but before the user has launched all of its ice crystals with its next basic attack
The skill increases the player’s Sp. Atk for a short time and has the player shoot out a freezing burst of air in a forward direction. The burst of air explodes upon hitting an opposing Pokémon or after traveling a set distance, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect.

For each opposing Pokémon hit by the explosion, the user gains ice crystals. The explosion also leaves behind an ice zone. Opposing Pokémon which enter this ice zone will have their movement speed decreased. If they remain in the ice zone for a set amount of time, they become frozen for a short time.
Upgrade (Lvl 13): The skill also increases the user’s basic attack speed for the duration of the move’s effect.Upgrade (Lvl 13): For each opposing Pokémon hit by the move’s explosions, the user gains ice crystals.

Unite Move – Glacial Stage

While the user is in the ice zone, its movement speed is increased, and it gains {@} ice crystals) whenever a set amount of time passes. The movement speed of opposing Pokémon in the ice zone is decreased.

Best items for Glaceon in Pokémon Unite

Further in this guide, we will discuss the best-held items for Glaceon in Pokémon Unite, as well as its best battle item.

Best held items

ItemWhy it’s useful
Choice SpecsChoice Specs is an item that increases a Pokémon’s move damage, as well as their Special attack by a fixed amount. Because Glaceon uses abilities and attacks frequently Choice Specs has great synergy with this Pokémon.
Buddy BarrierBuddy Barrier is an extremely versatile item that is used on Glaceon to increase Glaceon’s base health, something that Glaceon lacks. Since Glaceon’s UNITE move requires the player to stand still to activate it, Buddy Barrier provides large amounts of shielding that allows Glaceon to use the UNITE move and then get away safely.
Wise GlassesGlaceon’s abilities have lots of scaling with a special attack. Wise Glasses increases the Pokémon’s special attack by a base amount, then further increases the Pokémon’s special attack by a percentage of the total. Glaceon has one of the highest special attack stats in the game, Wise Glasses gives Glaceon great value and synergizes well with Glaceon’s high burst damage playstyle.

Some other held items that can be used on Glaceon include Focus Band, Sp. Atk Specs, Energy Amplifier, and Shell Bell.

Best Battle Items

  • Eject Button: Eject Button instantly gives Glaceon a short distance of choice, this item has a 70-second cooldown. The eject button is a universally powerful battle item that can let Glaceon engage, disengage, or use as a combo tool.
  • X-Speed: X-Speed increases the movement speed of Pokémon for a few seconds. X-Speed is one of the most useful battle items on Glaceon because it can be used to make aggressive plays or to chase down opposing Pokémon easily. It can be used to make hitting abilities easier, as Glaceon’s abilities such as Mystical Fire, Fire Blast and Fire Spin can be hard to land if the opponent has lots of mobility.
  • Potion: Potion is a 30-second cooldown item that heals the user for 12.5% of their maximum health. Glaceon needs to be in high health to stay in fights. Using a potion, ensures that Glaceon’s health can constantly stay high.

Pokémon Unite Glaceon Gameplay Tips

Our Pokémon Unite Glaceon guide includes the perfect game plan for the early and late game during the Unite battles.

Early Game

In the early game, Glaceon excels due to having evolutions and gaining abilities much earlier than other Pokémon. Because of this, players must make sure to play aggressively to ensure that Glaceon can get a large level lead in the early game to snowball into the late game. In the lane, Glaceon should be able to fight in a one-on-one against most opposing Pokémon due to having powerful single-target abilities that work well in one-on-one fights. They must make sure to take advantage of these opportunities.

During the early game, Glaceon’s lane partner in lane is usually a defender. They must make sure to communicate to the partner in the lane what plays are going to be made. For example, if an enemy is mispositioned, they can be made sure to communicate to the teammate to play aggressively. Once Drednaw spawns, Glaceon should be around level 7 and have both abilities ready, because of this it is ideal to rotate to Drednaw and contest it with the enemy team.

Late Game

By the late game, Glaceon should have a level lead and be more powerful than the opposing Pokémon from the winning lane and pushing a lead into the late game. Glaceon should try to use this lead to carry the rest of the team ahead. Like all other characters, securing Zapdos with the team is a necessity. Once Zapdos spawns, Glaceon should try to stay out of the vision of the enemy team and pick out single enemies by using high damage burst combos.

Positioning of Glaceon

Because Glaceon is an attacker, Glaceon is primarily played in the top lane with a defender. In teamfights, they must make sure to stay, behind the rest of the team. As an attacker, the goal is to deal as much damage as possible while minimizing the amount done to the attacker.

Glaceon specializes in one-on-one fights, players must so try to use Glaceon’s second ability in teamfights to move around the opposing team and single out an enemy target. With Glaceon, players should prioritize playing defensively and dealing damage in a safe manner as Glaceon, as it has a very low health and defense stat and lacks defensive abilities.

Glaceon with other Pokémon

Best synergies with Glaceon

Our Pokémon Unite Glaceon guide also focuses on the relationship between Glaceon and other Pokémon.

PokémonBenefit(s)
BlisseyBlissey is one of the strongest characters to pair with Glaceon. Blissey’s abilities provide instant healing or crowd control immunity to get out of unwinnable fights, movement speed to kite around enemies easily, and crowd control to disrupt the opponents’ plays and give Glaceon a greater chance to land the abilities. All these buffs which Blissey provides, on top of Blissey being an all-around great character, make Glaceon a great pick with this character.
TrevenantTrevenant offers a great amount of crowd control and slowing effects that synergize with Glaceon’s ability-based ability kit. Trevenant also has a great number of defenses and healing which allows Trevenant to defend Glaceon for a great amount of time.
WigglytuffWigglytuff goes well with Glaceon thanks to their high defenses and great crowd control abilities. Wigglytuff’s Unite move Starlight Recital goes especially well with Glaceon as the large shield given allows Glaceon to make aggressive plays and used buffed abilities while losing very little health in return. Wigglytuff’s ability “Sing” also puts enemies to sleep, ensuring that Glaceon’s abilities that are hard to land, are now guaranteed to hit opponents.
SnorlaxSnorlax offers a large amount of crowd control through the use of abilities such as “Heavy Slam” and “Block”, both abilities can make the opposing Pokémon unable to move or displace them. This Pokémon’s abilities are useful as it gives Glaceon a chance to escape or deal damage through burst abilities.

Pokémon Unite Glaceon: Tips, tricks and strategies

This guide will also discuss some tips and tricks for playing Glaceon in Pokémon Unite.

  1. As Glaceon, kiting is an important technique to learn. Kiting is the technique of weaving in abilities and attacks while moving, this allows Glaceon to play offensively and deal a great amount of damage or escape while trading a lot of damage back with the enemy fought.  This technique is especially helpful against melee characters as it allows Glaceon to damage them without them being in range to hit Glaceon back, so make sure to attack every few steps to maximize damage output.
  2. The flame charge can be used during the animation of Mystical Fire, this means that Glaceon is able to quickly reposition before Mystical Fire is used. Use this combination of abilities effectively to ensure that Glaceon fights from a safe position while still managing to land abilities
  3. Glaceon’s fighting style revolves around continuously poking at enemies in elongated fights like a marksman to build up stacks and then expending these stacks through abilities like an Icicle spear.
  4. Players must make sure to use stacks properly. For example, if the enemy is on low health, then they must expend all of the icicle stacks early to defeat the opponent quicker
  5. Glaceon needs to always be on the lookout for surprise attacks, as they lack health and defense. When playing Glaceon, players must try to have small bits of map awareness, such as using an ability into a bush to ensure that there are no enemies, before walking into it.
  6. They must save the Unite Move for Zapdos. This is an easily overlooked aspect of the game that can change the entire outcome of the game. Saving the UNITE Move for Zapdos ensures that they can secure the objective and win the game. They must try to move around the opposing team during the Zapdos fight and use the combo of abilities and your UNITE move to deal as much damage as possible
  7. One must make sure to check the map before Zapdos spawns. They must look around in the bushes surrounding Zapdos to ensure there are no sneaky enemies waiting to steal it.
  8. Glaceons’ Unite move will provide Glaceon with an infinite number of icicles for a short amount of time. Make use of this in the Zapdos fight by placing the Unite move in a safe space and dealing a great amount of damage to enemies from afar!

Final Thoughts

Glaceon is a great addition to the Eeveelutions to play with great gameplay mechanics and fun new gameplay mechanics. If playing speedy characters that can chase down and hit like a machine gun then this may be a good Pokémon choice!
