Wild Rift Lucian Guide: Best Build, Runes and Gameplay Tips

I don't do warning shots

League of Legends: Wild Rift’s Lucian, one of Riot’s older champions, has come with her wife to Wild Rift to stop the Ruination and its Black Mist from consuming Runeterra. Their aim is to fight against the Darkness by enlightening it with their Light within. Lucian is a marksman usually played in the Dragon Lane. He can also be played in the mid-lane with some tuning. With a kit that is kept simple and easy to use, Lucian is a solid A-tier champion in both Mid and Bot Lane. In this guide, we will take a closer look at the best runes, spells, and builds, including tips and tricks to fight your way to victory with Lucian in League of Legends: Wild Rift.

Skill Analysis

Lucian is a champion with the common five skill sets of one passive and four actives. In this Lucian guide, we are going to see how his abilities in LoL Wild Rift work. It is also important to use which skill at the correct moment to be in the best shape in the current rank season.

Passive Lightslinger

After using an Ability, Lucian´s next Attack will be within 3.5 seconds, firing two shots. The second shot deals 50% physical damage, increased to 100% against minions. The second shot is a separate Attack that applies on-hit effects and can critically strike.

Skill 1 – Piercing Light

Shoots a bolt of piercing light through an enemy unit, damaging enemies in a line for 95 physical damage (+ 60% AD).

Skill 2 – Ardent Blaze

Fires a shot that explodes at the end of its range or on the first enemy hit, dealing 75 magic damage (+ 90% AP). This does briefly reveal enemies, marking them for 6 seconds. When Lucian or an ally damages a marked enemy, Lucian gains 65 Movement Speed for 1 second.

Skill 3 – Relentless Pursuit

Quickly dashes a short distance. The Cooldown of Skill 3 is reduced by one second whenever Lucian hits an enemy with Lightslinger. This would amount to 2 seconds for the case of champions.

Skill 4 – The Culling

Skill 4 fires rapidly in a direction for 3 seconds. Each shot deals 30 physical damage (+ 25% AD + 10% AP) for the first enemy hit. It amounts to physical damage of 649. Lucian might use Relentless Pursuit during The Culling. Recast to cancel early. Minions take 200% damage from The Culling.

Skill Up Methods for Lucian

Skill up the Ultimate whenever it is available. Regarding other skills, upgrade the 1st skill, then the 2nd skill. The 3rd skill needs to be of the least priority.

Best Runes Setup and Spells for Lucian in Wild Rift

As Lucian can fill in as a marksman, this is a generic Rune Setup that is popular among ADC’s. This is due to a lack of rune diversity.

Marksmen Runes

Wild Rift Lucian Guide: ADC Runes for Lucian in Wild Rift

This Rune is the core rune for a lot of ADC´s since it stacks either AD or AP depending on how long a fight continues. Conqueror will help Lucian to dish out a lot of damage since the ADC should stay alive in team fights as long as possible.

There are also other options that one might pick up in this category. As per this specific guide, it is decided to help out Lucian´s early game by picking up Brutal. Since Lucian is not the most powerful early-game ADC, this rune will compensate for that.

Bone Plating

Picking up Bone Plating is never a bad idea since it reduces the incoming damage a champion receives. It shines the most when you are facing enemies which have hard-hitting combo attacks. Although as mentioned in the previous Rune description, there are also other runes that are viable or even better in different scenarios.

Manaflow Band

Since Lucian is a champion who relies on a mana bar, the pickup of Manaflow Band can take this rune to grant more sustainability overall. This is without investing in a mana item. Manaflow Band shines especially in the mid to late game, when enough mana has already been generated.

Battle Spells

As every other ADC Lucian is squishy so taking Flash as a Summoner Spell is very much advised. Even though he has a dash in his kit having a second option to escape sticky situations is never bad.

Shield or Heal

Both summoner spells do help Lucian to stay alive as much as possible. Choosing which spell to take also depends on what other support took for their spells. Taking Shield in comparison to Heal will only benefit the player. Although it is not necessary when one doesn’t have other options to receive a shield.

League of Legends: Wild Rift Lucian Gameplay Tips

Lucian is a Marksman who is best suited for being played in the Dragon Lane. It needs to be remembered that the Wild Rift’s Map is a mirror so one needs to understand the map side before starting to lane. According to her gameplay, we can break it down into three phases. Our League of Legends: Wild Rift Lucian guide includes the perfect game plan for the early, mid, and late game.

Early Game

Lucian´s early game is probably his weakest state among all the phases in the game. This does apply to a lot of other ADC as well. This champion group is made for scaling. While in the early game state, one must try to farm as much as possible with your support helping you by pushing the enemies out of the lane. One must use their 1st skill to poke the enemies. One must look at the 3rd skill to escape if the enemy tries to start an engagement.

Lucian early on in the game!

Other than that, one must make your lane ready for the first dragon. This is because of the reason of presence can be there, if a team fight starts. Having proper time management and a good understanding of wave management will help tremendously.

Mid Game

After successfully taking out the turret, one must try to keep up the farming as the ADC of the team. Therefore, one can get your items faster. While roaming always, it is recommended to keep an eye out for your lane as well since clearing out the lane is normally your responsibility.

Players might want to change lanes with the mid or top laner to minimize the possibility of getting ganked. This would also apply if one does not have a successful early game and the tower got destroyed before the enemy´s tower.

Late Game

From the Mid to the Late game, you hopefully have farmed up enough or at least the same as the enemy ADC to start dishing out heavier damage. This phase is usually where ADC shines the most and this is no different for Lucian. The Late game is the time where a lot of team fights happen so be prepared to be the priority of the enemy. Staying in the backline and having a good positioning is the key to success. Fortunately, as Lucian you have high mobility making it easier to stay alive.

Players might want to try specific skill combos like this to unleash their full potential of Lucian.

Basic + Skill 1 + Skill 2 + Ultimate + Skill 3

Lucian definitely would prefer to only have his wife Senna as his support, which is honestly not a bad match. Other than his wife Lucian also synergizes with Alistar, Blitzcrank, and Leona.

Final Thoughts

Lucian is a very interesting champion with a well-rounded kit. This makes him self-sufficient enough to deal out pretty good damage with his passive and get out of bad situations easily with his 3rd skill. What separates him from other ADC and definitely balances his squishiness. He and Senna will definitely shake up not only the meta but also the bot and mid-lane of the Wild Rift.
