Wild Rift Lux Guide: Best Build, Runes and Gameplay Tips

Everywhere I go, the light follows!

One of the finest mages in the game, Luxanna Crowngard, mostly known as Lux is bringing her light-bending abilities from Demacia to Wild Rift. With abilities that deal massive damage, Lux is possibly one of the most broken champions in the game, despite the recent nerfs. She is an excellent support mage primarily played in the duo lane with a lot of poke potential due to her long-ranged abilities. However, she can also be played in the mid-lane as a mage enchanter. She is an easy-to-play champion dealing massive damage with simple combos and an ultimate that has the capacity to steal Baron Nashors and Dragons. In this guide, we will take a closer look at the best runes, spells, and builds, including the tips and tricks to make your way to victory with Lux in League of Legends: Wild Rift.

Ability Analysis

Lux is a strong early-game mage and strong late-game support. This is mainly because of her infamous root and ultimate combo. Her kit can be much life-saving, especially during the late game. This is since she is one of the only champions in the game, who are great at both offensive and defensive playstyle. In this Lux guide, we are going to see in-depth how the abilities work in Wild Rift and how you can master this champion in no time.

Passive – Illumination

ability passive lux

Damaging abilities afflict enemies with Illumination for 5 seconds. Illumination empowers Lux’s next attack against that target, dealing 50 magic damage (50 +30%). Each time Lux hits an enemy champion with an ability, it marks the champion with light energy for 6 seconds. Lux’s basic attacks and her Ultimate Final Spark consumes the mark to deal bonus damage on the champion.

Ability 1 – Light Binding

ability 2 lux
  • Cooldown: 9s
  • Mana cost: 45

Cast out a ball of light that roots 2 enemies for 2 seconds and deals 70 magic damage (70 +70%) to both targets. Lux releases a sphere of light in the target direction rooting the first two targets hit for 2 seconds which include minions, enemy champions, and small monsters.

Ability 2 – Prismatic Barrier

ability 2 lux
  • Cooldown: 13s
  • Mana cost: 60

The ability throws Lux’s wand in a direction, shielding allied champions it passes through from 50 damage (50 +20%) for 3 seconds. After reaching its apex, it returns to Lux, shielding allied champions for an additional 75 damage (75 +30%).

Lux launches her wand in the target direction which returns to her after reaching maximum range shielding herself and her allies. The wand grants a shield to all allied champions it passes through for 2.5s, while it is outgoing and returning.

Ability 3 – Lucent Singularity

ability 3 lux
  • Cooldown: 9.5s
  • Mana cost: 70

The ability creates a zone of light that slows nearby enemies by 30%. After 5 seconds, the zone detonates, dealing 60 magic damage (60+ 60%). Re-cast: Detonate the zone.

This is an AOE ability that allows Lux to send out an anomaly of twisted light to a target location, creating a zone that slows all enemies within its radius. The light remains for up to 5 seconds of granting vision of the area which can be recast during flight or within its duration and detonates automatically after the duration ends.

Recast: Lux detonates the anomaly dealing magic damage to all enemies within its radius and applying Illumination. The slow linger for 1s after the enemies have left the zone. Enemies hit by Lucent Singularity’s detonation are also slowed by the same amount for 1s.

Ultimate – Final Spark

ability ultimate lux
  • Cooldown: 60s
  • Mana cost: 100

The ultimate fires a beam of light dealing 300 magic damage (300 +75%) to all enemies in a line. Final Spark ignites and refreshes Illumination. Lux fires a laser of light that crosses the entire length of the map and has no range limit. It deals massive damage to all enemies within its area along with revealing and granting sight of the area around them. It also reapplies her passive.

League of Legends: Wild Rift Lux Gameplay Tips

Lux is a great champion for beginners and professionals alike. This is due to her efficient and high utility kit which involves slows, roots, and shields with an immense long-range. Always remember that the Wild Rift’s Map is a mirror so make sure you understand the map side before starting to lane. According to her gameplay, we can break it down into three phases. Our League of Legends: Wild Rift Lux guide include the perfect game plan for the early, mid, and late game

Laning phase

Lux is a strong early game support because of her first and her third abilities; Light Binding and Lucent Singularity. During the early game, most of the champions have low magic resistance which gives Lux a huge advantage allowing her to deal massive damage during the laning phase. Her first ability Light Binding is an extremely useful ability during the early game since it allows herself and her ADC to deal damage without the enemy champions being able to escape enabling her allies to secure some easy early kills.

Lux gameplay on the battlefield

Not only that, if Lux is teamed against opponents with high early game damage, her 2nd ability Prismatic Barrier comes very useful to shield herself and her allies giving them more survivability in the lane. Light Binding and Lucent Singularity are a perfect combo with each other since they both are CC abilities. These two abilities along with her passive scale incredibly well during the. Her long range is especially useful because it makes her a difficult champion to target and kills. She can safely deal damage from a distance efficiently staying out of the range of champions like Kai’Sa, Braum, Vayne, and Lulu.

Mid Game

Being a strong CC champion, Lux can fully spam her abilities during the mid-game primarily due to the low CD on each of her abilities. She can use strong combos with her Ultimate allowing her and her allies to dominate almost every teamfight during mid to late game. Her 1st ability is extremely useful and despite Lux being a very one-dimensional champion, her kit has a lot of potential allowing her abilities to be utilized in a lot of ways. When played right, Lux has the capability to carry her teammates and turn the tide of a team fight.

Late Game

Despite being a very strong pick, Lux does fall back a little during the late game since she becomes an easy target due to her low armor and damage resistance. Playing mostly at the back of the teamfights, Lux still deals a ton of damage giving her allies plenty of opportunities to secure some kills.

However, she is more popularly known for stealing objectives with her Ultimate Final Spark’s unlimited range which helps her scale across the map giving vision and dealing damage to all enemies and monsters along the way. Her unique Ultimate when timed right, can help herself and her team steal the enemy’s Dragons and Baron Nashors turning the entire tide of the game within a few seconds.

Combos to be used for Lux in Wild Rift

  • 1st ability + 3rd ability + AA
  • 3rd ability + 1st ability + Ultimate + AA
  • 1st ability + 2nd ability + Ultimate + AA + 3rd ability

Final Thoughts

Lux is a great support and mid-lane champion mainly because of the CC in her kit. She excels in all phases of the game and even though she’s squishy and does not have a lot of survivability on her own in the late game, she can still be a game-changer with her high damage abilities and potential to keep her teammates alive. She is not a frontline champion but she is crucial to teamfights due to her long range. Lux can be played in both aggressive and defensive playstyles making her a very versatile champion.
