Wild Rift Annie Guide: Best Builds, Runes, and Gameplay Tips

Don't make me hurt you!

Annie Hastur is a dark and fiery little girl. She is a mage with pyrokinetic powers, hailing from the Ironspike Mountains, located north of Noxus. Due to a fatal accident while playing with her step-sister, Daisy, which resulted in Daisy’s death, Annie was despised by her step-mother, Leanna. Annie couldn’t handle Leanna blaming her and yelling furiously at her, a little girl who had no idea what was going on around her, for everything bad that happened to them. Therefore, she brought Tibbers, her pet teddy bear, to life for the first time, who killed Leanna on the first strike. In this Wild Rift guide, we will take a look at the best emblem, spell, and builds, including tips and tricks to dominate every game with Annie.

Skill Analysis

Annie is a mage, and her abilities focus on bursting down targets. She has an ultimate that greatly helps with that. She is a damage dealer, which means that she prefers damage items and not defensive ones. Stunning entire teams at once with some heavy burst is always fun. Therefore, without further ado, let us check her skills in detail.

Passive – Pyromania

After casting 4 spells, Annie’s next offensive spell will stun the target. When Annie casts 4 abilities, she gains 4 stacks of Pyromania under her health bar. Then, when she uses her next offensive spell on an enemy, it stuns them for 1.25 seconds.

Ability 1 – Disintegrate

Annie hurls a Mana-infused fireball, dealing damage in a small area and refunding the Mana cost and half its cooldown if it destroys the target. The fireball that Annie hurls, explodes in a small area, dealing 80 magic damage (80+80% scaling with Ability Power). If the enemy that she is targeting with this ability dies, she gets back the mana cost of this ability, and its cooldown is cut down to half of the initial cooldown.

Ability 2 – Incinerate

Annie casts a blazing cone of fire, dealing damage to all enemies in the area. The cone of fire that Annie releases deals 70 magic damage (70+70% scaling with Ability Power) to all enemies within the Area of Effect. This is an AoE spell, and hence, can be used in conjunction with her passive, to stun multiple enemies at once.

Ability 3 – Molten Shield

Annie shields herself, tibbering on an allied champion, absorbing incoming damage. Enemies who attack the shield take damage. Annie can use this ability to shield either herself, Tibbers, or an allied champion, for 3 seconds. This shield absorbs 50 damage (50+40% scaling with Ability Power). Any enemy who attacks the shield takes 25 magic damage (25+30% scaling with Ability Power).

Ultimate – Summon: Tibbers

Annie summons Tibbers, dealing 140 magic damage (140+60% scaling with Ability Power) to nearby enemies. For the next 30 seconds, Tibbers deals magic damage, burning nearby enemies by 24 (24+12% scaling with Ability power) per second, and attacking enemies for 50 (50+20% scaling with Ability Power).

Tibbers enrages himself, hasting him by 100% and granting 210% Attack Speed) when summoned, when an enemy champion is hit, or when Annie dies. Upon reactivating this ability, Annie can order Tibbers around and make him appear wherever she is.

Skill Up Methods for Annie

Annie’s skill level-up order is as follows:

  • 1st Ability (Disintegrate): Level 1, 4, 6, 7.
  • 2nd Ability (Incinerate): Level 2, 8, 10, 11.
  • 3rd Ability (Molten Shield): Level 3, 12, 14, 15.
  • Ultimate Ability (Summon: Tibbers): Level 5, 9, 13.

Best Rune Setups and Spells for Annie in Wild Rift

Tibbers was infused with magic by Annie’s biological mother, Amoline Hastur, and they are always together, wherever they go. Tibbers protects her in dangerous situations, and due to Annie being pyrokinetic, they are a very formidable duo. In Wild Rift, Annie is a mid-laner. In this section of the Wild Rift guide, we are going to go through her abilities, best builds, runes, and general tips to play Annie.

Rune Setup

Annie gets great results with the following build in the mid-lane.

Keystone Rune – Electrocute

Annie is an offense-oriented mage. Her 1st and 2nd abilities, along with her ultimate ability, are used to burst down enemies and deal a huge amount of damage. Electrocute helps with this, as it proceeds to attack an enemy 3 times within 3 seconds. Annie uses this by first, using her ultimate, then using her 1st and 2nd ability for almost fatal damage to enemies.

Weakness

Annie’s passive, and her ultimate ability, both hugely contribute towards weakness, being a very strong rune on her. Both the passive and the ultimate ability stun the target, and due to Annie being a burst mage, this time is enough for her to proc weakness and deal massive bonus damage. Overall, it is a very solid rune that compliments Annie’s offensive nature.

Adaptive Carapace

Annie is a squishy champion. Once she is caught out by enemies, though she can escape, the risk is not worth it. Therefore, Adaptive Carapace helps with giving her some defensive stats. This rune grants her Armor or Magic Resist, when she is below 50% health, based on the type of damage she took just before the rune activates. It is one of the best defensive runes against mixed Ability Power (Magic damage) and Attacks Damage teams.

Hunter – Genius

Hunter – Genius grants the user 3 Ability Haste. On each unique takedown, killing each enemy champion once), it also grants 2.5 Ability Haste, granting 18 Ability Haste at the maximum. Ability Haste helps to reduce ability cooldowns, which is very important for Annie. One of the best runes for her.

Summoner Spells

Flash

This is quite self-explanatory. It is even more useful for Annie because she is an immobile, slow champion. If caught out of position, she can use flash to escape. But, it can also be used in an offensive fashion, with Annie being able to stun large groups of enemies that are far away, by using flash and then immediately using her ultimate ability.

Ignite

It applies Grievous Wounds (healing reduction) to the enemy and also kills any low-health enemies that try to escape. It is the best summoner spell on an offensive mage like Annie.

  • Rod of Ages: It grants Annie 250 health, 300 Mana, and 60 Ability Power. Rod of Ages helps Annie to be a bit more durable in teamfights, and the mana helps to cast abilities more without running out of it. This is a very important item for her and is a must-have first item.
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap: Raw power is perfect for Annie, especially in teamfights. It grants her the additional 120 Ability power and increases her Ability Power by 40%. The best second item.
  • Lucidity Boots (Protobelt Enchant): As is the case with Ability Power champions, they depend on their abilities to do the heavy lifting, so they need lower cooldowns. This is where Lucidity Boots come into play. They grant Ability Haste, and hence, reduce her ability cooldowns. The Protobelt Enchant acts as a semi-flash. It helps to escape with a dash, as well as, helps to engage with a dash+ Ultimate ability combo.
  • Void Staff: It is the best magic damage item against tanks who build Magic Resistance. It grants Annie 70 Ability Power, and 40% magic penetration. It shreds through Magic Resistance.
  • Infinity Orb: It gives Annie 200 Health, 60 Ability Power, 5% additional Movement Speed, 15 flat magic penetration. It also makes Annie’s abilities critically strike for 20% bonus damage against enemies that are below 35% health. It is especially useful in teamfights, after using her ultimate ability, and 1st – 2nd ability combo, which almost always brings down the health of enemy carries to below 35%.
  • Morellonomicon: The only Grievous wounds item needed for magic damage dealers. It grants Annie 300 Health, 70 Ability Power. Morellonomicon applies Grievous Wounds to enemies for 3 seconds after dealing magic damage to them. It is a well-rounded last item to get.

League of Legends: Wild Rift Annie Gameplay Tips

Annie is decent in the early game, as well as the late game. In our Wild Rift guide, we will see how to play Annie in the early, mid, as well as late game.

Early Game

The early game with Annie is fairly simple. Stand back from threats, and farm with her 1st ability. This is very important to understand, because killing any enemy, including minions, with her 1st ability, returns some mana to her, and also halves the 1st ability’s cooldown.

This way she can have her 1st ability ready for a lot of the time and can proc her passive more frequently. Once she reaches level 5, looking for ganks is the best play, as her ultimate is really powerful in a teamfight.

Mid Game

In the mid-game, for a champion like Annie, looking for teamfights and using her ultimate ability as much as possible, is the best option. Roaming to the lane where ganks are the most likely, is a major priority, and if this phase is used well, Annie can get her team significantly, ahead of the enemy. Participating in fights around the Dragon and Baron is crucial, as those fights present the opportunity to land some juicy 5-man ultimates.

Late Game

Even though Annie can do crazy amounts of damage, she has a very short range, which can result in her getting poked by longer-ranged enemies. Because of this, in the late game with Annie, it is all about positioning.

Catching out the enemies’ squishy carry, or two or more squishy enemy champions late game, and stunning them and then killing them almost instantly, with the full combo, is the name of the game. Even if she doesn’t scale as hard as some other champions like Veigar, she can still one-shot enemies, without much effort.

Final Thoughts

Annie is a fantastic burst mage. She can be picked up by beginners very easily and is useful for the entire length of the match. She doesn’t fall off and has one of the best crowd control (CC) abilities in the game. Though, she compensates for the crazy damage numbers with her short-range, Flash and Protobelt help her out in that regard. Overall, she is a decent champion in all stages of the game. Therefore, if players are looking for an easy mid-lane champion to climb with, she is one of the best choices. We hope our tips help you to stun and burst your way through the ladder with Annie and Tibbers!
