Skill Analysis

Ekko is an Assassin-Mage. He uses mainly Ability Power items and is a burst-damage Assassin. Due to his story, he has a unique relationship with time, and that reflects in his abilities. Let us take a look at his skills in detail.

Passive – Z-Drive Resonance

Every third attack or damaging ability against the same target deals an additional 30 magic damage (30+70% scaling with Ability Power). If Ekko’s target is a champion, he gains 40% Movement Speed for 2.5 seconds. This passive deals 150% damage to monsters. It also cannot affect the same target for 5 seconds, after its first activation on that target.

Ability 1 – Timewinder

Ekko throws a temporal device, dealing 60 magic damage (60+30% scaling with Ability Power). On hitting a champion, or the distance limit, it expands into a field that slows enemies by 30%. Then the device returns to Ekko, dealing magic damage to enemies on the way back.

Ability 2 – Parallel Convergence

This ability has two parts.

  • Passive: Attacks against low health targets deal an additional 3% missing health damage to them (3 + 2% scaling with Ability Power).
  • Active: Ekko launches a Chronosphere that lasts for 1.5 seconds, slowing enemies who step into it by 40%. If Ekko enters the sphere, it detonates, stunning enemies for 2.25 seconds, and granting Ekko a shield that absorbs 70 damage (70 + 150% Ability Power) for 2 seconds.

Ability 3 – Phase Dive

Ekko dashes in a target direction. His next attack within 3 seconds gains 250 range and causes him to blink to his target, dealing an additional 60 magic damage (60+40% scaling with Ability Power) to them.

Ultimate – Chronobreak

Ekko becomes unforgettable and returns to his position 3.5 seconds ago and heals for 100 health (100 + 50% scaling with Ability Power), increased by 3% per 1% of health lost within 3.5 seconds. Upon arrival to his position 3.5 seconds ago, Ekko deals 150 magic damage (150 + 150% scaling with Ability Power) to nearby enemies.

Skill-Up Methods for Ekko

Ekko’s skill level-up order is as follows:

  • 1st Ability (Timewinder): Level 1, 4, 6, 7.
  • 2nd Ability (Parallel Convergence): Level 3, 12, 14, 15.
  • 3rd Ability (Phase Dive): Level 2, 8, 10, 11.
  • Ultimate Ability (Chronobreak): Level 5, 9, 13.

Best Rune Setups and Spells for Ekko in Wild Rift

He conducted endless trials with this new machine that he named the Zero Drive. Once, on his name day, his friend group dared him to climb one of the highest clocktowers in Zaun. During this climb, one of Ekko’s friends fell from the tower, and Ekko, without wasting a second, activated his Z-Drive. He literally shattered time, but still wasn’t able to save his best friend. He tried again, and again, and after several attempts, he was able to save his best friend, and this left his group flabbergasted.

But, as a result of knowing Ekko’s secret, they became a bit reckless. In this section of the Wild Rift guide, we are going to go through her abilities, best builds, runes, and general tips to play Ekko. In the game, Ekko is a mid-laner. Let’s take a look at what summoner spells and runes are best for him in Wild Rift.

Rune Setup

Ekko gets great results with the following builds in the mid-lane.

Keystone Rune – Electrocute

Electrocute is the best Keystone rune for Ekko. His 1st Ability, in combination with his 3rd Ability and a basic attack, can easily proc Electrocute, both in 1v1s and in teamfights. Making sure to focus on 1 target, preferably their least health target, is important.

Triumph

Triumph shines the brightest in teamfights. When your team and the enemy team are brawling, focus on the least health target, and all in them. Triumph will proc and deal additional damage due to their low health, while Electrocute will proc due to multiple attacks on the same target. Killing one enemy champion will heal you up, and you can then finish off any feasible enemy champions nearby.

Nullifying Orb

Ekko, due to being an Assassin and a mage, is a bit squishy in terms of survivability. Nullifying Orb helps to reduce the threat of you getting popped in a second. When you fall below 35% Health, you gain a shield that absorbs 80 (80+ 30% scaling with Ability Power) damage for 4 seconds. This shield is on a 60-second cooldown.

Hunter Genius

Hunter Genius grants Ekko 3 Ability Haste right at the start. Then, throughout the match, when he helps to takedown a different enemy champion, he gains 2.5 Ability Haste. The maximum Ability Haste that can be gained this way is 18 Ability Haste. This helps in reducing Ekko’s ability to cooldowns.

Summoner Spells

Flash

Very self-explanatory. Helps Ekko to chase down a fleeing target, and also helps him to escape if things get bad.

Ignite

Ignite applies Grievous Wounds to an enemy champion. In a teamfight, it is always useful to target the healer/shielding champion with igniting first, and if there is no healer in the enemy team, then it is best to prioritize the one who has got the most lifesteal/vamp.

Best Build for Ekko in League Of Legends: Wild Rift

In this section of the guide, we will discuss the best build for Ekko in League Of Legends: Wild Rift.

  • Luden’s Echo: It gives Ekko 300 Mana, 85 Ability Power, and 20 Ability Haste. Ekko’s abilities can get a little expensive in the early game, so Luden’s Echo helps to alleviate that with the additional 300 Mana. The 20 Ability Haste also helps to reduce ability cooldowns.
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap: Grants Ekko 120 Ability Power, and increases his Ability Power by 40%. Coupled with Triumph, Deathcap is an excellent item to burst down enemy ADCs and lower health targets.
  • Lucidity Boots (Stasis Enchant): Again, the Lucidity Boots help to reduce Ekko’s ability to cooldowns, and the Stasis Enchant is useful in near-death situations after you have used everything in your arsenal. Also helps to buy time for your team to get to you and take down the enemy.
  • Lich Bane: Grants Ekko 80 Ability Power and 10 Ability Haste. Also provides Ekko with the Spellblade passive of the Sheen component, and deals bonus damage to enemies after every ability cast. Bane also grants Ekko 5% Movement Speed.
  • Void Staff: The best item for Ekko against tanks. Grants him 70 Ability Power and +45% Magic Penetration.
  • Morellonomicon: The best Ability Power-based Grievous Wounds item. Gives Ekko 300 Health and 70 Ability Power. The extra health grants some more durability to Ekko and can help to stay in fights for a bit longer.

League Of Legends: Wild Rift Ekko Gameplay Tips

Ekko is a bit weak during the early levels, but his late-game is very powerful with all the items he builds. In this section of our Wild Rift guide, we will go over general tips to play Ekko throughout the match.

Early Game

During the early game, farming is very important. Due to items being a bit expensive, you should maintain a gold lead in order to get your items before your opponent. Depending on the lane, you can try to roam after level 3 to other lanes, and look for ganking opportunities.

Then, once you hit level 5, look to roam and gank any of the die lanes if you can. But, if you think that the enemy is hard shoving the lane, you can stay in the lane and try to get as much farm as possible, and then look for a teamfight at the first dragon fight.

Mid Game

In the mid-game, you have a few options with Ekko. You can look for fights where possible, or you can look to take down tower plates across the map. Ekko is good at pushing towers, and if a tower or two has just a single plate left, you can push them in and get the tower gold for your team.

Late Game

In the late game, staying with your team or pushing lanes separately depends on how ahead your team is. If your team can handle themselves 4v5, you can try to split, but if they are even or behind, staying with them is the better option.

This is because teamfights are important for Ekko as he can quickly assassinate a target and get out, making the 5v5 into a 4v5. His damage at this point is huge, and assassinating a squishy target is easier with Ignite, the 1st ability, and the 3rd ability.

Final Thoughts

Ekko is an amazing Assassin-Mage. When piloted correctly, he is a threat to the enemies in every fight. Though it is difficult to learn how to play him, once mastered he is a very dangerous champion. With his kit containing 2 slows and a stun, he has got some decent CC at his disposal, but it is difficult to land, so landing it is that much more rewarding. His ultimate is literally him breaking a timeline, and returning to a more favorable state in time, and the healing it provides is massive in the late game.

Flanking is an important part of ganking lanes and fights with Ekko. His 2nd ability is his most important ability in the late game, and getting a stun off on 2 or more enemies guarantees a kill when your team follows up. Overall, he is a very strong mid-laner and can become a mega carry in the hands of a capable player.
