Mobile Legends Phoveus Guide: Best Build, Emblem and Gameplay Tips

Tremble in my presence

The developers behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, MOONTON Games have revamped the fighter-role hero, Phoveus in July 2024. The new revamped Phoveus is, however, going to be a lot different from his previous self, as he won’t directly be a counter to high-blink heroes anymore. Instead, Phoveus would be able to mark enemies with his skills and then leap up to smash them with his revamped ultimate ability. Coupled with the changes in his damage output from Magic damage to mainly being a Physical damage dealer, the revamped Phoveus gameplay is undoubtedly going to be much different, unique and fun. In this guide, we will take a look at the best emblem, spell, and build, including tips and tricks to pave your way to victory with the newly Revamped Phoveus in Mobile Legends.

Skill analysis

Passive: Demonic Force

After a short while, Phoveus’s next Basic Attack will allow him to charge at the target, knocking them back and dealing extra damage while granting him extra Shield. The cooldown of the passive decreases each time the ultimate levels up

Phoveus’ with his ability also retains part of his previous passive ability titled Astaros’ Gaze. This reduces the the cooldown of Phoveus Passive and skills, whenever an enemy hero blinks, dashes, or is displaced near him.

Skill 1: Demonic Impact

  • First Skill Cast: Phoveus slams the ground with his weapon, thus dealing damage to surrounding enemies while slowing them down.
  • Second Skill Cast: On hitting an enemy target, the skill will be enhanced and can be re-casted again to leave behind an Astaros eye that implodes after a short delay dealing damage to enemies in range.

Skill 2: Dark Wave

The revamped Phoveus second skill would now launch a wave in the target direction, knocking enemies airborne, whilst dealing damage and pulling them closer to Phoveus.

Skill 3: Infernal Pursuit

Passive skill: Sinner

Whenever Phoveus’s enhanced Basic attack, enhanced 1st skill, or 2nd skill hits an enemy hero, a sinner’s mark is applied to the target.

Active skill: Judgement

On casting the skill, Phoveus leaps up and smashes down on a target enemy hero with Sinner’s mark, dealing Physical damage to all enemies in the area, while restoring Phoveus’s HP. This ability also doesn’t have any cooldown and players can freely use it as long as they can activate the sinner’s mark on their target.

Skill-up method for Phoveus

Players are expected to unlock Phoveus’s Skill 1 first and upgrade it alongside Skill 2 accordingly, and Ultimate whenever available. Skill 1 upgrade should be prioritized as it has a lower CD and enough damage for harassing enemies in the laning phase.

Best Emblem Set and Spells for Phoveus in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Emblem Setup

Phoveus is a Fighter role hero with abilities that would help him to chase and harass multiple enemies on the battlefield, whilst having lots of sustain. Thus, his emblem set-up should then be able to provide as much sustain, damage, and defense boost for Phoveus. Because of this, we’ve brought up some of the best Emblem/Talent Setups that are advisable to be used for Phoveus.

The Custom Fighter Emblem is the most advisable emblem to be used for Phoveus. Ever since its Revamp, the Fighter emblem has given players access to 3 different talents. Hence, for the revamped Phoveus, the following Emblem setup is expected of players:

  • In the First Talent, we choose Thrill as it provides adaptive damage granting him an early-game damage boost for his skills. One can also opt for Firmness as it provides extra Magic and Physical Defense, granting Phoveus more durability whilst laning.
  • In the Second Tier Talent, Players can pick Festival of Blood, since it provides a bonus Spell Vamp for Phoveus. This would greatly improve Phoveus’s sustain in the early game laning phase.
  • In the Third Tier Talent, players can pick Brave Smite for extra HP regen on dealing skill damage to enemies. One could also opt for either War Cry or Temporal Reign as they both increase his effectiveness on the battlefield.

Battle Spells

  • Whilst using Phoveus, players should choose the Flicker spell, as this grants an extra source of mobility whilst also allowing him to reposition effectively on the battlefield.
  • Another spell players can consider is the Vengeance spell, as an extra form of durability, especially when faced with high burst damage enemy heroes.

Best Build for Phoveus in Mobile Legends

Chip equipment build is centered on granting Phoveus extra damage whilst also granting Phoveus extra sustain and durability during teamfights. Thus his build is more or less similar to other sustain fighter heroes in his category.

Players should first proceed to buy Tough boots, for extra CC and slow-duration reduction as well as for extra magic defense in the laning phase. Players can then proceed with War Axe, for extra Spell Vamp and increased attack damage the more Phoveus fights. It also deals extra true damage to enemies making it a reliable damage and sustain item. Players can then follow up with Hunter Strike for extra physical penetration and movement speed on dealing damage to enemies.

One can then proceed by building a Brute Force Breastplate for extra defense, movement speed, adaptive damage, and even control duration reduction. Build Dominance Ice to reduce enemy Regen and attack speed. Following up with Queen’s Wings would grant extra Damage reduction for Phoveus on reaching Low HP. It’s passive also grants lots of extra damage stats and spell vamp to further complement Phoveus sustain.

Mobile Legends Phoveus Guide: Gameplay Tips

Revamped Phoveus is now a very powerful fighter with lots of unique skillsets to his benefit, Thanks to the numerous perks from his passive, Phoveus can easily activate his ultimate and chase down multiple enemies that have been marked.

In short, the newly revamped Phoveus now has even greater usefulness in teamfight that’s way better than previously watching out for blink enemies. According to his gameplay, we can break it down into three phases. Nonetheless, a player must have a good understanding of the map to bring the best out of any hero. This MLBB Phoveus guide includes the perfect game plan for the early, mid, and late gameplay of Phoveus.

Early Game

Due to his skillsets and capabilities, the exp lane is the most recommended lane for Phoveus. On reaching the lane, proceed to use Phoveus’s first skill to harass enemies on the battlefield. Place the Astaros eye from the second cast of Phoveus’s first skill to deal extra damage to enemies.

In the early game, Phoveus is quite durable though without much sustain. So one should prioritize playing safe and not overplaying the engagement. One could even do some quick rotations to help out your jungler or midlaner to give your team an early-game advantage.

Enhanced Basic Attack + Skill 1 + Skill 1 (Recast) + Skill 2

Mid Game

Due to his skillsets, Phoveus should perform well in this stage as he can easily initiate and engage enemies with his no Cooldown ultimate ability. By using the first cast of Phoveus’s first skill to attack minions or creeps beforehand, Phoveus can surprise enemies with the enhanced first skill and ultimate combo.

Players should also prioritize objectives and help out their team when the turtle spawns during this phase, Nonetheless, ensure to farm whenever you get the chance and remember that Phoveus is fully dependent on his skills, so prioritize your core items to get stronger. Players can additionally use this combo, to gain an upper hand on the battlefield:

Enhanced Basic Attack+ Skill 3 + Skill 1 +Skill 2 + Skill 3 + Skill 1 (Re-cast) + Skill 3

Late Game

Focus on team fights in the late game, and roam the bush to ambush squishy enemy heroes like marksmen and mages. Invade the enemy buff with your carrier or do a surprise attack on the enemy ADC. Phoveus alongside his new CC-packed skills and lock-on ultimate is the perfect opportunity to target and maim enemies.

Nonetheless, this phase of the game is quite crucial as all players must be wary of their positioning and timing to avoid unnecessary ambush.
